France has returned the sacred Djidji Ayokwe talking drum to Côte d’Ivoire 🇨🇮 after 110 years. Colonial troops took it in 1916 from the Ébrié people.
The drum, over 3 meters long and weighing 430kg, is a powerful symbol of communication, unity, and resistance.
The historic artifact will soon be displayed in a new museum in Abidjan, allowing Ivorians to reconnect with this important part of their heritage.

Ntirba or Tiduaba are decorative hair pins that were worn by women of the Adehyeɛ (royalty). They were a popular accessory among noblewomen in the 1800s period. Various examples of ntiriba/tiduaba are present in the Asante, Mfanste and Baoulé cultural areas.
