To make these cuts, while also expecting the industry to innovate, deliver public benefit, commit to/uphold gov strategies such as fair work and net zero, is to ask someone how they might better defend themselves while continuing to punch them, injuriously hard, in the face.

A joy to host 300 pupils from all 7 Hawick primary schools at this year's Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival, and to observe them not only meeting artist filmmakers such as Emily Jacir and Madison Brookshire, but also chatting to them as peers about their own films.

Building on our long-term partnership with Hawick's seven primary schools, in 2023-24 we deepened our work with Drumlanrig and Newcastleton in particular to engage 96 P3-P7 pupils in learning the practical, technical and transferable skills of film production.
