It's conflating two irrelevant things to cause panic. The headline with most posts from the right about this is 300,000 kids are being trafficked. The claim also ignores how most of the kids were placed in homes following the protocols in place. I will admit it does say that the process was rushed and not all followed those protocols, but the majority did. Or even if they post just says 300,000 missing kids, that implies that other protocols failed of placing the kids in safe homes. They conveniently leave out that they're just unaccounted for in a time when they're in hiding anyway so they don't get put in a detention center to be deported. It's a modern day Underground Railroad, and history is gonna remember it as such.

There was no science in banning it, just emotions and hidden agendas. Fill up the prisons, force people to pay fines and attend classes, keep them in low paying jobs for as long as possible. The War on Drugs was how they manufactured acceptable slavery on the form of wage slaves.

The recent IPCC scenario update (for CMIP7/AR7) officially deems the extreme high-emissions pathway RCP8.5 (and SSP5-8.5) "implausible" as a likely future. It was long criticized (and sometimes misused) as a de facto "business as usual" case in research and media. This is a meaningful correction on overstated worst-case projections—not a retraction admitting climate change poses no danger to human health. Moderate warming scenarios still indicate risks, just far less apocalyptic than the high-end ones.

Imagine how nutters you'd think someone is if they said they didn't think about anything except how many people die from lack of healthcare every year. Or a 9-11 every year. It's relevant as we lose three times as many Americans every year to capitalized healthcare then we did on 9-11. The president can focused on two things at once, don't go letting him blame his terrible decisions on being zeroed in on Iran not having nukes
