Nothing precludes the feds from asking for provincial assistance, but the feds would be in control. And ecological integrity goes out the window in an emergency - but the emergency doesn’t give AB new fire management powers. Fin.

Lots of back and forth on @andrew_leach about jurisdiction in Jasper NP. The starting point for any discussion is ss 14 & 15 of the Natural Resources Transfer Agreement (1930). NPs were excepted out of the transfer of federal public lands to the provinces (s 14). 1/

@alex_n_boyd Thank you. I am amazed at the efforts of the animal rescue people. Several years ago the fire actually melted two of the tires on a guy's trailer and he loaded horses and drove away.
