Fantastic news! 🎉 Love British Food has been shortlisted for the @PSCMagazine Awards 2026 – Marketing Award. For 25 years the campaign has championed British food through a grassroots, bottom-up movement – connecting farmers, caterers, public sector organisations and communities to keep British food firmly on the nation’s plate. 🇬🇧 Huge credit to @AlexiaCRobinson, who founded the campaign, along with the many partners & supporters, the team at @PinstoneComms & @ClareyRowson who bring Love British Food to life. Many of this year’s finalists have been part of that journey – as partners, Food Heroes or supporters of British Food Fortnight – which makes this recognition even more special. Congratulations to all the finalists championing British Food in public sector catering. #LoveBritishFood #PSCawards #BritishFood #PublicSectorCatering

BBC Radio 4 - The Food Programme with @SheilaDillon ow.ly/ibUQ50Ymt5I Using creativity, flair and imagination to turn constraints into great food. A standout moment in last Friday’s The Food Programme was hearing from Frank Fiore, Catering Manager at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and a member of the Love British Food Hospitals and Care Catering Working Group (listen from 28 minutes into the programme). Championing local, farm-fresh produce and that powerful field-to-fork connection, Frank talks about cooking seasonally, being creative with what’s available — “I’ve got leeks today, what can we make with leeks?” — and making the very best of what you can afford. A powerful reminder that, in the face of the cost of living crisis, chefs across every sector rely on creativity, values and good British food to make a real difference. #LoveBritishFood #BritishFood ##PublicSectorCateringalliance #HospitalFood #CareCatering #FoodInHealthcare #ChefsCreativity #SeasonalCooking #FieldToFork #CostOfLivingCrisis

Togetherness, a stronger collective voice & shared responsibility to build a resilient British food system are exactly what we have proudly championed for 25 years — working with government, retailers, processors, public sector and farmers, united by one shared love of British food. It’s great to see this collective ambition — & the clear message that support for domestic food production is a must — so strongly articulated by Tom Bradshaw at #NFU26. Well said Tom! Collectively let's make a real difference. Stronger together! #LoveBritishFood #StrongerTogether #BritishFood #ResilientFoodSystem #UKFarming #FoodChain #CollectiveResponsibility #FoodSecurity #BritishAgriculture #NFU26 #25YearsOfLoveBritishFood
National Farmers' Union@NFUtweets

NFU President Tom Bradshaw closed #NFU26 reiterating that there is 'now a greater collective understanding about the need for a resilient food system, one where risk is fairly shared for the national good and the need for economic stability and long-term profitability. The opportunity is out there. It’s not gifted, it’s not guaranteed, but it’s out there waiting to be seized. So let’s all – government, retailers, processors, hospitality and farmers – work together to make it happen.'

IS REWILDING UNLOCKING THE UK’S CARBON VAULT? 📉 The assumption that removing livestock is a climate "silver bullet" is being challenged. A new PNAS study reveals that while excluding sheep boosts visible vegetation, it destabilizes vital, long-term carbon stores below ground. Here are the findings from 12 grassland sites across the UK: 🔬 THE SHIFT Comparing grazed vs. ungrazed plots showed a critical trade-off. Removing livestock caused a 27% INCREASE in shrubs and 26% DECREASE in grasses. 📉 THE HIDDEN COST This vegetation shift alters soil biology. Shrub roots and fungi produce enzymes that "prime" microbes to decompose old, stable carbon - effectively unlocking the soil's carbon vault. ⚖️ THE IMPACT While "Fast-Cycling Carbon" (plant litter) increases, the study found ungrazed plots had LOWER levels of "Slow-Cycling Carbon" - the stable type that locks away for centuries. 🐑 THE VERDICT "Surface greening" masks underground instability. Responsible grazing is a complex biological tool essential for carbon storage. A balanced approach - not total abandonment - is key for genuine climate security.
