For years, the Harrods owner Mohamed Al-Fayed used his power to abuse and rape women, without ever being prosecuted. Why did he never face justice? And who enabled it? pod.fo/e/2e3c8c

My book about Mohamed Al-Fayed is out next week. I interviewed over 50 women who were abused by him, police insiders, bodyguards who saw what happened, as well as experts in psychopathy and sociopathy. What happened, and how on earth did he get away with it? OUT ON 5th June. amazon.co.uk/Monster-Harrod…

@RorySmith @TheAthletic @tortoise I'm just catching up with these Observer appointments. Well done. This is great news. Look forward to reading you soon.

Seems like only yesterday that I last did this: after quite a brief, but very happy, stay @TheAthletic, I'm really excited to be joining The Observer (powered by @tortoise) as football correspondent. I start in a couple of weeks, when I've thought of a new Instagram handle.

@_PaulHayward Jut seen this. That's great news. Well done. And well done to them. Hope the new-look Observer is a huge success for all.

Yesterday was a rather magnificent day... my book The Monster of Harrods (out 5th June...roll up, roll up get your pre-orders in now) was promoted at London Book Fair.
Next, it was off to Downing Street for a meeting with Keir Starmer, Angela Rayner and Rachel Reeves, for International Women's Day.
Then, a top-speed zoom through London to arrive at The Wharf in #Teddington just in time to host a panel of rugby experts at a SporTedd dinner to raise money for charity.

I'm in the process of judging the British Sports Journalism Awards and am delighted by the number of new, young writers whose entries sit comfortably alongside the big names of sports journalism. It's heart-warming to see. The younger writers may not have covered eight World Cups, nine Olympics Olympics and a million Wimbledons, but so much of their work is bristling with creativity and promise. Obviously, the downside to all this is that it's making judging all the more difficult...

Thanks to everyone who came to the AHEAD OF THE GAME Conference last night. It was a tremendous evening, full of bright, inspiring people with a passion for sport. Enormous congratulations to Sam Peters whose campaign in the Mail on Sunday led to an award-winning book, and now a series of conferences in which some of the most influential people in neurosurgery, neuropathology, physiotherapy, playing and coaching come together to share information and plot a safe way forward for sport.
