Arthur Novel passed away this morning. The two people always behind the scenes supporting Jim Henson, so he could do his art, were David Lazer and Arthur. , David has passed. And now Arthur. Their names will not mean anything to others, but for me, “Attention must be paid”.

Erika Kirk holds multiple degrees & runs businesses, got married at 34, & had her first child at 35. However she wants YOU to abandon scholarship, get married & have babies in your early 20s and trust your husband to care for you. None of the trad-wife spokeswomen are trad wives

#SmallProphets Rare these days, television not committee-made & pandering to some prescriptive social theory but an authorial peice that is a refraction of Mackenzie Crook's spirit. Let writers bare their souls. This is a 6-part Play for Today, a Penda's Fen of our times.

UK people: recommend watching Small Prophets on BBC. It's by Mackenzie Crook (guy below), the genius behind The Detectorists (including that brilliant and lovely lemonade scene).

With all the awful things going on in the world, this may seem trivial, but... I am absolutely tickled pink that Sir Mickey Pallin is receiving rave reviews for his first comedy performance for about 30 years. He's always been the funniest of the Pythons ( except for Eric Idle, of course ) and I want to congratulate him with all that is left of my heart

@playnicenow2 @Wegiveyouhealt1 plus the unwanted children out there and terrible parenting that goes on because people were pressured into thinking they had to, without having the inclination, environment or the means. creates so many problems in society. poverty, abuse, crime, you name it.

Much of this can be experienced by having a pet. Especially when the pet becomes ill and you have to care for it. Some of it can also be experienced by having nieces and nephews. This propaganda has harmed the lives of millions who could have been perfectly happy without the pressure to have children.

People without children often hear this line as judgment. It is not. It is simply truth, said softly. You can live a full life without a child. You can travel, build, earn, heal, and enjoy freedom. All of that is real. But there is a dimension you will never touch until you become responsible for a life that exists because of you. A child changes the axis of time. Suddenly, the future is not abstract. It has a face, a voice, and tiny hands holding your finger. You learn a kind of love that is not romantic, not transactional, not conditional. A love that shows up even when you are tired, broke, scared, or failing. A love that humbles you daily and strengthens you quietly. You start measuring success differently. Not by applause. Not by money. But by whether you are becoming someone your child can feel safe with and proud of. Children force growth. They expose your impatience, your selfishness, your unresolved wounds. And then they give you a reason to fix them. Not tomorrow. Today. Legacy stops being a word and becomes a responsibility. You realize you are not just living your life. You are shaping a human who will walk the world long after you are gone. People without children are not missing happiness. They are missing this specific depth of meaning. And you do not know it is missing until it arrives.

As you may have heard, “The Thing” has been added to the Library of Congress. We made the movie to push against the edges of what we could pull off, and it carries that strain in its bones. Seeing it now treated with the same care and reverence we had making it means a great deal to me and everyone who brought it to life. I especially want to remember TK Carter, who brought heart and humor into that desolate, frozen place and should be standing here with us today sharing in this recognition.  Thank you to everyone who continues to keep it alive.

What an honor it was to be spoofed by Catherine O’Hara. What an unfathomable loss. We love you, Catherine. Comedy won’t be the same without her. Sending love to Catherine’s family, friends, castmates, and fans today. Truly beloved.

Catherine’s knowledge of humanity was always at the center of her comedy, no matter how absurd the character or loopy the material. She could play heartless because she was warm, brainless because she was brilliant, careless because she truly cared. Everyone loved her and everyone learned from her. This is a deep loss.

@TimoteoDoctor @rashi_kakkar but if you are giving a young woman career advice, surely you need to recognise her labour with be greater than yours without a domestic assistant? like, you need to say, the secret to my success is, get a wife. otherwise his advice is unhelpful because there is no transparency?

@RifewithKatie urgh just re-read this thread all over again having seen it now. and people don't even get the ending. they just say it's 'gonzo'. erm, it's about the audience being implicated in turning women into sideshow freaks, then castigating them for it. blood literally on their hands

@seanonolennon disconnection from the earth (humus, not the dippy kind), too high on one's own supply. too much emphasis on individualism, illusion that we are disconnected, and not in fact dependent on each other and planet earth. ascendancy can't be infinite, pride comes before...
