Writing exclusively for the ECHO, @andyburnham praises the endless courage of the Hillsborough families on the day a new Hillsborough Law will finally pass through the House of Commons

Today belongs to the Hillsborough families.
They never gave up.
Because of them, our country is one step closer to ensuring no family has to fight so long for truth and justice again.

Good.
Supporting a group linked to death threats and attacks here in the UK, doing the dirty work of Iran and Russia, should absolutely be against the law.

This is appalling. Hatred against Muslims has no place in our country and I am determined to stamp it out.
Well done to the police and organisers for keeping everyone safe.

I have seen firsthand the anxiety in our Jewish communities and the very real threat they face.
Their safety will be a priority for me - we must do more to stamp out the scourge of antisemitism and protect Jewish communities across the country.
This funding boost is a welcome and necessary step towards that.

This was an appalling act of violence against someone who has contributed so much to our national life.
These are very concerning developments and the police must be given the resources and space they need so justice can be done as quickly as possible.
My thoughts go out to Ann’s friends and family and all who loved her.

A message of relief from me today.
We had the news that our ammendments have been accepted by the Government with carve outs removed.
We now have legislation worthy of the name.

A beautiful explanation of how Andy Burnham’s Roman Catholicism will be at the very heart and centre of his values, morals, ethics and decision making.
I’m so sad to hear this. Dermot was an exceptional broadcaster and a truly decent person. I always enjoyed being in his company. Love to his family and friends. 🙏🏻
Football has always been about more than what happens on the pitch.
The World Cup reminds us how much we have in common - let’s harness that.

This is terrible news.
Ann Widdecombe brought conviction, wit and personality to public life over many years.
My thoughts are with her family and friends.
I hope her killer is brought to justice as quickly as possible and faces the full force of the law.

As the first day of nominations draws to a close, I am deeply grateful to the 322 Labour MPs who have put their trust in me and nominated me for Leader of the Labour Party.
Their support comes from across the PLP and reflects a shared belief that Britain needs a new approach to politics.
That is the circuit breaker I am offering: power out of Westminster, an economy rewired for ordinary people, and good growth in every postcode.
I want to empower MPs to bring the experiences of their constituents into the heart of government, and harness the full breadth of our Labour movement, drawing on all its traditions and beliefs in pursuit of a common purpose.
I want to thank every colleague who has nominated me for their commitment to that vision.
