Everyone stfu about how I “i would never!! You need to learn how to say no!! You need to learn boundaries!!” I am fully capable of that but have made special accommodations for these visitors because it brings the rest of my family such joy

There is an innate selfishness in boomers who don’t have children I have 2 visiting me right now. They are from Man’s side of the family. The amount they expect to do every day in environments not conducive to child schedules or convenience for parents has got me so worn down Prior to this, every time they have visited, Man continues working, maybe taking a couple days off & I am left to chauffeur & host them every day The rest of my household has always been thoroughly enamored by them so I have grit my teeth & committed to making the best of it. I do love & appreciate them, they are wonderful people, but hosting them while managing my kids is simply too much for me So this time when I found out they were visiting for 12 days I put my foot down & said he must take the week off work if he wanted them to visit. I simply refused to host them on my own We are on day 6 & this afternoon Man pulled me aside & remarked at how it seems one of them specifically is actually quite selfish & it starts to feel like we are expected to be supporting act in a one man show while managing our children in inconvenient & uncomfortable circumstances & I was like “THANK YOU FOR FINALLY REALIZING THIS” But even with him around to help everyone still relies on me for all plans, directions, reservations, destination & restaurant choices, meal planning, etc. Like when something goes wrong everyone is coming to me to fix it And one of the visitors REFUSES to do anything inside. No museums, malls, movies. Nothing corporate like zoos, aquariums or theme parks. Everything is expected to be outside, beach days, hiking, boats I am fried, tired, my kids haven’t gone to bed before 10pm in a week. I just got my period and I am supposed to get up early tomorrow to herd the boomers & both kids to an island for a 5 hour beach day, no strollers or wagons allowed YOU GUYS I CANT DO THIS, EVEN WITH HIS HELP

@Peacemaker811 I am fully aware how you set boundaries but I have made special accommodation because my family adores spending time with them so much

@AniseNot You need to learn how to set boundaries. You can be nice about it, but just explain to them - we have children, so you're going to have to be flexible to fit around US and our children when you visit. If you wish to do things on your own, feel free.

Yes I did, it was very interesting but also seems a little crazy. Have been waiting for their follow up but haven’t seen anything so far I brought it up to 2 different parents I know with nonverbal kids, one seemed mostly uninterested and the other became irate & said it’s basically driven by parents who can’t simply accept they were given a bum lot in life & are coping with delusions

@AniseNot Have you listened to the telepathy tapes? I don’t know what I believe and what I don’t, but it’s very intriguing. Might not actually make you feel any better though. Maybe worse actually.

Making myself sad thinking about how many people with cerebral palsy & muscular dystrophy & autism & genetic disorders are out there locked into a body that doesn’t respond properly & can’t communicate

@AniseNot God Bless you girl 😭 last time I had my boomer "no kids" family members drain me, EXACTLY as you're describing, I ended up pawning them off on my sister for a night so my infant and I could rent a hotel room to escape and take a bubble bath & cry 😢

@AniseNot I lived in Maine for a few years. Fall (Sept/Oct) is a popular time to visit for the really gorgeous foliage, and late summer (July/August) is good time if you'd like to go blueberry picking. Either are good for going to coast to get lobstah.

Today at homeschool group, the host's father joked that he wouldn't interrupt us because it's not as fun as when he used to interrupt his wife's La Leche meetings. I'm pretty tolerant of old man humour, but that was just gross.

@AniseNot My dad has Parkinson’s and is basically turning into a statue. Makes me really sad.

My beliefs are hardwired into the idea of the infinite spirit & reincarnation so sometimes I like to think they are just a soul that worked really hard in a previous life & got absolved of responsibility for life in this round. A little chance to relax & be taken care of But I know that’s just a story I tell myself to make it easier to accept

@AniseNot Do you think there's some "reason" these things happen to people? I can only think that their existence is a reminder to the rest of us, to be grateful for what we have, and to be grateful for each of those people for reminding us. They do it so we don't have to. Y'know?

Been laying in bed for an hour thinking I must’ve sunburned the crease of my inner thigh so bad because it feels painful but I just checked my pocket & there is a bobby pin in it that has been digging into my inner thigh skin for an entire hour
