Do some research and pay attention to a few key metrics: •Revenue growth – high •Earnings growth – high •Operating margin – high •P/E – low •P/B – low •P/S – low If you focus on these key metrics, you’ll find the right NGX companies to buy. Then place your bids on your broker’s platform. Best of luck! #NGXBrickByBrick

I will take this as a 𝙼𝚘𝚝𝚒𝚟𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗.. Well, when I start this journey I start with as low as #50, it's Quite Unbelievable right. Now my portfolio all joined is approaching 30k.. My Mentor Dn Motivate me this day.. God Bless you sir Anthony I shall not Forget this

That’s why I said it’s based on your spending. If you are spending ₦2m per year, then your number is ₦25m. If you’re saving ₦10k per month, in 10 years your portfolio could be as high as ₦10m if we experience returns similar to what we’re seeing now. Anything you invest will get you closer to your goal. Trust the compounding effect, it works like magic.

@E_maigida @anthonyuzum Spot on - knowing your exact FIRE number stops the endless accumulation trap and lets you actually enjoy the journey. Seeing how your current assets map to a Freedom Age (with today’s inflation and costs) can make that question a lot clearer in any economy.

I agree, but the problem is that most people don’t invest. Those of us in the NGX community on X are a small minority of Nigerians who actually do. That said, I think you can start enjoying your money once you’ve reached about 50% of your number, your financial independence number. For Nigeria, I believe an 8% withdrawal rate can work (no research, just based on asset returns in the country today). So, if you spend ₦20m per year, your number is roughly ₦250m. Once you hit half of that, you can ease up on your savings rate, but not stop investing completely. I reached 100% of my number a few years ago, so I reduced my savings rate from 60% to 45% to enjoy more of my income.
Hadiza Bello@HadizaB85863870

Invest. Invest. Invest. But at what point do we finally stop and say: “Okay… that’s enough. Time to step back and actually enjoy the fruits of all this hard work?” So many of us are stuck in endless accumulation mode always chasing the next investment, the next opportunity, the next win… but never stopping to harvest. The real question is: At what point do we start harvesting what we’ve planted?* I’d love to hear your opinion when do you think “enough” is enough? Let’s learn from each other. @anthonyuzum

Baba Rufy, you too much. I was trying to explain this pension AUM as it pertains to linkassure 11% ownership of stanbic pension with an AUM of over 7 trillion (The Pensions subsidiary alone is easily a ₦400bn to ₦600bn business. PFAs are roughly valued at 8% to 11% of their AUM) which translates to 70 billion in investment asset conservatively for linkassure wheraes market cap of Link assure is less than 29 billion. Thanks for helping make it clearer .

@anthonyuzum Knowing your fire number is key else you will keep accumulating without enjoying the proceed, Do you think 200m invested in liquid assets is enough for somebody to retire in present Nigeria?

@anthonyuzum Algorithm makes it look like everyone is investing or understands the concept of it. But it’s only a tiny % of people that are aware. Others still class it as MMM.

Financial independence number: this is the amount your portfolio needs to reach so you can live off dividends and returns indefinitely without working. FI number = Annual spending ÷ safe withdrawal rate. I’ve assumed a safe withdrawal rate of 8% for those living in Nigeria, based on current returns in the country. Abroad, this rate is typically 4%. For example, if you spend ₦5m per year, your number is ₦62.5m. If you spend ₦10m per year, your number is ₦125m, and so on. This can be adjusted depending on your personal circumstances.

@anthonyuzum Thank you so much for this insight I’ve learned a lot from it. I really like your perspective on easing up once you hit 50% of your number; it makes the journey more sustainable and enjoyable, not just a grind. That balance is key

@IamMagnus1 It’s not looking good for Eterna. I’m not a fan of the fuel distribution segment of the downstream oil business, it’s going to be difficult to make money under current conditions.

The 73-paged Eterna PLC financial statement for year end 2025 + Claude AI + my balance-sheet-first framework. Clearly not looking good. If anyone wants to buy it, maybe do it for the 8.75 per share Dividend… You have to buy before April 24th to qualify. Payment date is May 5th. Not financial advice. With how much liabilities they have, they shouldn’t be paying dividends… but who gives a funj what I think. cc: @MudiTheInvestor @anthonyuzum for vis
