Dear Mr. @BYadavBJP, As Environment Minister, protecting nature and improving the quality of life in our cities is also your responsibility. What are your plans to reduce the extreme heat people across India are facing? Many municipalities are cutting trees but not planting enough new ones. Our cities are slowly becoming concrete jungles, hotter, dirtier, and more difficult to live in. People want greener, cleaner, and cooler cities, not just more concrete and buildings.

Her name was Twisha Sharma. She was 33 years old. A former Miss Pune. She had appeared in Telugu and Hindi productions including Mugguru Monagallu and Zara Sambhal Kay. In recent years she had stepped away from acting and moved into the corporate sector. Her brother is a serving Major in the Indian Army. On May 12 2026 she was found dead at her husband's residence in Katara Hills, Bhopal. Her last message to a friend read, "I'm trapped." Her family alleges that Twisha had been subjected to sustained mental and physical harassment over dowry demands after her marriage to Samarth Singh. They allege she was pressured into terminating a pregnancy at two months. They allege her character was repeatedly questioned by her in laws. Her father Navnidhi Sharma said publicly, "I strongly suspect this was murder." The postmortem noted ligature marks on her neck and additional injuries on her body. Her husband Samarth Singh was absconding at the time of initial reports. His anticipatory bail was rejected by the court. His mother, a retired judge and sitting Chairperson of a District Consumer Forum, filed a bail application. She alleged Twisha was a drug addict under psychiatric treatment and that her death was a suicide. The mother in law received anticipatory bail. A Special Investigation Team has been formed. A case has been registered against Samarth Singh and his mother under dowry death and harassment provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Twisha's family refused to perform her last rites. Her body remained in the mortuary for more than six days. Her family demanded a Supreme Court supervised investigation and a second postmortem at AIIMS Delhi. The SIT investigation is ongoing. No chargesheet has been filed. No conviction has been recorded. Her father says his daughter was murdered. Her husband's family says she took her own life. The SIT will determine what the evidence supports. Repost this. Some stories must not be allowed to disappear.

Rammohun Roy the so called Sati reformer, hated the fact that his widowed mother Tarini Devi was a devout Hindu who contributed money for "idol worship" in Pujas. When he refused to pay his share from the family's land for contributions to Hindu ceremonies, his mother filed a case through his nephew, which Rammohun easily won due to his links with the British administrators. After winning the case against his mother, Rammohun took over all the property and kicked her out on the streets. His mother had to seek refuge in the temple of Jagannath Puri and died there in wretched conditions in 1822. When Roy's sister in law, Durga Devi also filed a case to recover back some money from family properties - Rammohun again ensured that his influence helped him win the case. He then forced his widowed sister-in-law out on the streets. This is the man who is touted as the savior of widows - but himself ensured that the two widows in his own family were thrown out on the streets and forced to live in wretched poverty after taking over all their property - all in the name of his hatred against "idol worship".

#InfiniteIndia | The Sati narrative was often distorted during colonial rule to malign India and its civilization. In the Ramayana and Mahabharata, countless women were widowed, yet widow burning was not the norm. Ancient Vedic traditions allowed widows to live with dignity and remarry, but selective interpretations were used by colonial Christian missionaries to defame India’s social heritage. Today, I gave a lift to a neighbour and dropped her at the restaurant where she works as a cashier. When I asked why she was walking in such extreme heat, she told me she could not afford to spend Rs 50 on auto fare every day. She takes auto only during emergencies. This is the reality of middle class today. We really don’t need lectures on saving money - we are already struggling to save as much as possible. What we really need is a serious plan to increase manufacturing jobs and build skill centres. Now, where is that plan?
