The survey gathered 1,711 South Korean citizens aged 18 and older, who freely chose the figures they believe have made outstanding contributions to the nation’s development in 5 different areas. In the Culture and Arts category, BTS received 132 votes, ranking 3rd after filmmaker Bong Joon-ho and video art pioneer Nam June Paik. BTS is the highest singer in this category. This recognition is part of a commemoration honoring those who, through their talent and dedication, have projected Korea’s image to the world and inspired millions both at home and abroad.
