Elon Musk's ex girlfriend Amber Heard once made him cry in front of his entire staff. Multiple sources close to Musk have said that the relationship with Heard was the only one where he wasn't in control. Not of her. Of himself. He described the breakup as one of the most painful experiences of his life. A man who watches rockets explode and feels nothing said a breakup nearly destroyed him. His biographer Walter Isaacson wrote that Musk entered "demon mode" during and after the relationship. The intensity of his work at Tesla and SpaceX during that period wasn't ambition. It was escape. The same man who can't be present at dinner with a partner suddenly couldn't stop working because stopping meant feeling. His friends said they'd never seen him like that. Not after failed launches. Not after billion dollar losses. Not after public humiliation. A woman did what the entire aerospace industry couldn't. She got past his defenses. This is what nobody understands about the hardest people you know. They're not hard everywhere. They have one crack. One frequency that bypasses everything. And when someone finds it, the collapse is worse than anything the public version of them would suggest is possible. Musk rebuilt rockets after explosions in weeks. It took him over a year to rebuild after Amber Heard. The man who colonizes planets couldn't protect himself from the one thing engineering can't solve. That tells you everything about where real power ends and where real vulnerability begins.

Massive claim from ex-CIA officer John Kiriakou. 🔥 🇺🇸Trump at 7:00 PM — “🇮🇱Netanyahu is a war hero. Great guy. I guess I am too.” 🇺🇸John at 8:00 PM — "Epstein was a Mossad 'access agent'. He was used by Israeli to gather compromising material on powerful figures for blackmail so Israel can make them dance to their tune."🔥 Bro indirectly claimed the reason behind Trump’s bootlicking Netanyahu🔥

I’ve been in crypto for 9 years and full time for 5 years But atm crypto feels dead atm The truth is that my mental is taking a hit from it Crypto became such a big part of my life that if this ecosystem disappeared tomorrow a part of me would disappear with it Maybe that’s unhealthy, but after almost 10y it’s hard to separate yourself from something that shaped your entire adult life Rn everything just feels… empty

@brockpierson My parents couldn’t afford a Commodore 64. I’d borrow BASIC books from the library, dreaming of making games… but never had a computer to code on. 40 years later, I’m a developer — but I still haven’t made a single game. 💔

ALERT: Canadian man diagnosed with rare condition that gets him blackout drunk without drinking any alcohol. Eric Poulin has spent the last decade experiencing episodes where he feels drunk but hasn't taken a sip of alcohol. Poulin started having distressing periods where he would black out and have no recollection of what happened. "I'd have the kids tell me things happened, that I was crying and saying I was going to die… I don't remember any of it." Poulin was diagnosed with auto-brewery syndrome, a rare condition with only 100 cases ever reported, caused by an imbalance of microorganisms in a person's gut. Since there are so few cases, the disease is hard to identify, diagnose, and treat, as Poulin has not had any success with methods such as reducing carbs or taking antifungal treatments to prevent this phenomenon. “I don’t know what’s going to happen day to day, hour to hour, so that really leaves a lot of limitations on what I can do, where I can go, work, money, everything… My whole life has been flipped upside down by this."

@jaynitx yeah but it does not mean that if the guy would bought it for 750k would make what is Google today, the buyer was not a dev/genious but rather just an investor ... maybe the story would be very different

In 1999, the two founders of Google tried to sell the entire company for one million dollars. The buyer turned them down, so they offered it for less. They wanted out. Larry Page and Sergey Brin were still PhD students at Stanford. The search engine they'd built, first called BackRub and then Google, had grown into something that ate all their time and kept pulling them away from the degrees they'd come to finish. So they decided to sell it and get back to their research. The buyer they had in mind was Excite, the number two search site on the internet behind Yahoo. Its CEO was a man named George Bell. A venture capitalist named Vinod Khosla set up the talks. Page and Brin asked for a million dollars. Bell passed. Khosla went back and talked the two of them down to seven hundred and fifty thousand. Bell passed again. The founders of Google lowered the price on Google, and the man across the table still said no. It wasn't really about the money. Seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars was small even then. Page had a condition. If Excite bought Google, Excite would have to tear out its own search technology and replace it entirely with Google's. Bell heard that as a tiny startup asking to gut his company from the inside, and he wouldn't do it. He'd also run a test, Excite's search against Google's, and decided the results weren't all that different to an ordinary user. He was looking at the best search engine anyone would ever build, and what he saw was something about as good as what he already had. The two businesses pulled in opposite directions too. Excite was a portal. It made money by keeping you on its pages as long as possible, surrounded by ads. Google was built to do the reverse, to find what you wanted and send you off the page as fast as it could. For a portal, a search engine that good was almost a contradiction. So he let it go. Google raised twenty five million dollars a few months later and stayed independent. Excite got swallowed in the dot-com crash and sold for parts. Today Google's parent company is worth more than two trillion dollars. People tell this as a story about one man's historic blunder. It's more useful as a story about why the blunder felt obvious at the time. Bell wasn't a fool. He was running the second biggest search company on earth, he tested the product himself, and it looked ordinary to him. Everything about his business said keep people on the site, and this thing did the opposite. The best opportunities rarely arrive looking like opportunities. They show up looking like a slightly worse version of what you already have, attached to someone asking you to blow up your own company to make room for it. Two students tried to give Google away so they could finish their homework. The expert said no thanks.
