Weather forecast warned of heavy rain. Many said it would keep devotees away from #RathYatra. The forecast was correct. The rain came in abundance. But so did the devotees. In lakhs. Watching them stand patiently on the Grand Road, umbrellas in hand, waiting for a glimpse of the Lord, is a reminder that faith doesn’t wait for fair weather. Jai Jagannath 🙏

With due respect to Amitabh Bachchan sir, I have finally unfollowed him. Stayed for a long time with his numbered and cryptic tweets, but eventually gave up. A great actor. An absolute legend. Just not the easiest person to follow here. 🥹🥹🥹

"Where kings wield brooms, chariots pause for devotees, and the bottom pot carries the richest flavour.” A beautiful reflection on how Puri’s Rath Yatra turns worldly hierarchies upside down and teaches humility, equality and devotion. A wonderful read! timesnownews.com/opinion/india/…

Someone walks up to you at a gathering and asks, “You recognised me?” You fake a smile, nod politely and, in your mind, wonder: “Who do you think you are, Amitabh Bachchan?” Heard this company is now spending money on influencers to make sure people know it was them 😂

Dear Tanya, During the 1984 riots, the family of this ‘Sikh hater’ sheltered Sikh neighbours in our home in Faridabad, knowing fully well that the mob could have attacked us as well. For those three days, my father sat in the front room with his loaded pistol to ensure safety of our terrified neighbours. I remain immensely proud of him. I only hope those dark days never return to Punjab. The country has paid a huge price to bring back peace. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 x.com/arunbothra/sta… x.com/arunbothra/sta…

I worked in Punjab as a journalist during the peak of militancy. Later in my career, I headed the Punjab Cell in the CBI, which had, in its past, investigated cases of fake encounters as well as the assassination of Sardar Beant Singh. Those experiences gave me a rare opportunity to see both sides of that tragic period. They taught me that any honest account of those years must acknowledge both sides of the story. And that is exactly my concern with Satluj: not what it shows, but what it leaves out. It tells only half the truth; the other half is left unsaid, deliberately, and with a purpose. The film decontextualizes Jaswant Singh Khalra and the human rights debate from the Pakistan-backed, brutal Khalistani insurgency. This omission is neither an innocent creative choice nor an inadvertent one. And, in my view, the intent behind such a selective portrayal should matter to every Indian.
Leher Sethi@LeherSethi

@arunbothra But the movie focuses on the “fake” Encounters and the illegal means used to achieve an end.. also, the CBI documents, Supreme Court judgments are all out in the open for anyone to see the truth. Then why hide it?

This is too simplistic. The phrase, "One person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter," confuses cause with method. Any organisation, group or individual that targets innocent civilians to achieve a political or ideological objective is engaging in terrorism. For example, stopping a bus, forcing people of a particular faith to get down, and killing them in cold blood is clearly an act of terrorism, regardless of the cause being claimed. People may disagree about the legitimacy of a political cause. But there is no ambiguity about act of targeting innocent civilians to advance that cause. That is terrorism.
M@Mudita2021

@arunbothra But then again, Your "treason" is someone else's freedom of expression.Your "terrorists" are someone else's freedom fighters. Its' tough to decide and brand. 🙏

Criticising the government is covered by right to freedom of expression. Poisoning minds against the nation is not. There is a world of difference between dissent and treason. #Satluj

It’s unfair to generalise and hold an entire generation accountable like this. Heinous crimes are not a Gen Z invention. Every generation has produced saints and scoundrels. Previous generations had anonymity; Gen Z lives under relentless spotlight of CCTV and social media, where every act is recorded, and dissected in public. What has changed is visibility, not the human nature.
SnowLeopard@5n0wl3op4rd

GenZ is like this only. They try to act dank/savage every living moment of their life.

Sir, I have merely expressed my opinion on my personal handle. Decided nothing. But I respect your opinion. Slightly more than Siya Goyal seems to respect public opinion about her.

In my career, I have interacted with many hardened criminals and murder accused. Most of them show some sign of regret, grief, or emotional conflict, particularly where the victim is innocent. What is striking in this case is the chilling absence of any such emotion. The allegations speak of a crime planned and executed in cold blood, followed by the conduct that is equally cold and remorseless. #SiyaGoyal
