Trick-or-treating used to be a community, social affair. It wasn’t just getting candy, it was the interaction between the kids & the residents…the fun convo over costumes, the banter about the funniest, most scary, etc.
At some point ppl decided the interaction wasn’t worth their time. So they either turn off their porch light & don’t participate or they put out the candy bowl.
Sad.

Y’all keep saying “if you don’t rely on the government, this won’t affect you.” That’s a lie. When they cut SNAP, WIC & fundings that support health centers & temp assistance programs, it hits everybody. Groceries cost increase, stores lose money, businesses will slow down, & of course us working class citizens end up helping family/friends who don't have it. It’s not fearmongering; it’s facts. When the bottom breaks, the middle gets crushed in some way, too.

I disagree. People who don’t rely on the Gov are almost never affected by the changes they make,.. unless they make it their business to find a way to include themselves into the situation.. it’s all fearmonger tactics to make people think something’s changed when it didn’t.

never forget that 92% of black women voted for democracy. no other group across race, gender, age, income, or education showed that level of support for either candidate. black women are the very fabric of american democracy, in a nation that has failed them time and time again.

I grew up in section 8 housing filled with love. went to undergrad using Pell Grants. in grad school my mama use to mail me her food stamp card. everything that made it possible for me to get a PhD has been cut. i'm sad for the the little black kids having their future stolen.
