@jaimeschmidt My brand is so niched down that people often ask, will you try to reach “xxx”? What about “xxx”? My startup brand, Rocky Robinson instagram.com/youresocuteroc… is for girls, and it is about empowering girls, wrapped in self-care. That is all.

The secret to building a brand into a household name isn’t about catering to the masses. It’s being rooted in a niche that slowly catches on to the mainstream.

10 yrs ago I started a business that, as a VC, I probably wouldn’t have invested in. As a founder I was all in, but as an outsider there was good reason to be skeptical. 7 yrs later the company sold for $100M+. The rejection you might see today is no indicator of your potential.

When Black folks protest to stop being killed by police, they're met with tear gas, brutality, tanks and snipers. When White folks riot to overthrow the government, they're met with high fives, compassion and little resistance.

@Maybelline Me? I am a small business owner building a startup brand to teach Black and brown girls to love themselves from the inside out. I believe that representation matters. It would be amazing to have your BIG brand amplify the work we are doing. Check it out on IG @youresocuterocky

But I am also infuriated with a system of criminal injustice that puts so many black and brown families in such hopeless circumstances. So, in my grief, I renew my commitment to fight for justice and criminal justice reform. And I do it in your name, Everett. I love you always.

@shaunking Humiliating and I’m horrified. Too many people involved to have allowed this. From the coach who stood by, the woman wearing gloves, aggressively cutting chunks of his hair, & teammate who was cheering him on: “you’re being grossly violated, but let’s get this win buddy!”
