What a ride. I have made the incredibly difficult decision to step down from Ava Labs. In this post I want to talk about how these last 4 years completely changed my life, grew me as a person in ways never imaginable, and what ill be doing next. In my time at Ava Labs I made lifelong memories, friends, and built things I will be proud of for the rest of my life. From launching AAA games, being exit liquidity for AVAX NFTS, partnering with the largest institutions on earth, to traveling the world and bonding with this incredible community. It is really hard to think of a better way I could have spent these years of my career. I am still incredibly bullish on Avalanche and the vision. There is a reason I was here for so long. Will be watching and chearing on as a community member. For now I will be taking some much needed rest. I will be taking my talents to the road, taking a multiple month cross country trip in a van. Nature, friends, and a lot of time thinking thoughts. It will be great to unwind as i figure out what's next. Finally promoted to a community member🔺

There’s still a huge gap between how much blockchain gets talked about and how much it’s actually understood. In this conversation on our new series “Ask the Owl” we focused on what the technology actually does and why it matters. One of the main points: blockchain acts as a database layer for the internet. It’s a way for distributed systems to agree on information, ownership, and transfers without depending entirely on centralized intermediaries. 🤝🏼 We discussed practical examples too, like digital tickets, asset ownership, tokenized securities, government records, and payment distribution systems. This week on Avalanche! Here is some, but not all, of what stood out from our grantees across DeFi, infrastructure, mobility, payments, gaming, and NFTs ⤵️ 🔺 @dexalot teased the launch of OmniVaults: one deposit that automatically deploys liquidity across every chain where users are trading, with no extra bridging, no managing multiple pools, and no market makers required. They also shipped a major app upgrade making the platform faster and simpler for traders. 🔺 @WarpGameFDN grew the wheel event prize pool to over $8,000, giving early participants a stronger shot at Enterprise and Pro Nodes plus other rewards on Avalanche. 🔺 @BlackholeDEX recapped a packed year of building exclusively on Avalanche: TWAP and limit orders, in-app cross-chain bridging, zap functionality, and single-click rebalancing. A lot shipped in a short time. 🔺 @BenqiFinance highlighted how tokenized assets on Avalanche can embed rules, incentives, and real utility, deepening DeFi composability across the ecosystem. They also rolled out cross-chain loan repayments from any EVM chain. 🔺 @kardpay reaffirmed two years of building on Avalanche with no plans to slow down, citing the ecosystem's builder support as a key reason for staying long-term. 🔺 @pangolindex put real usage numbers on the board: 69k transactions in 24 hours with active incentive programs across pools. 🔺 @blaze_stream updated Blaze PRIME so selected streams now require subscriptions for Backstage Pass rewards - a move to better support creators and reward the most active community members. 🔺 @AvaxTeam1 hosted the Women Connect event in Manila, engaged 7,000 students at the HUTECH Job Fair in Vietnam, and highlighted @kardpay for powering global event payments with stablecoins on Avalanche. 🔺 @zero________one dropped new independent art collectibles available for collection on their platform. 🔺 @LFG_GTFO kept Gladiator Mayhem Open Beta active with a competitive LFG Stars leaderboard and dropped 10 Forge Keys into the Wheel of Fortune in collaboration with Warp. 🔺 @CodeNekt_Eco opened its L1, described as purpose-built for the mobility industry, to builders, developers, designers, and startups. APIs, SDKs, smart contract support, hackathons, and direct vehicle data integration - all on Avalanche. 🔺 @routescan_io released its Transaction Authorization List tool to simplify tracking authorized transactions on Avalanche. London gave us one of the clearest signals yet that tokenization is moving from theory to strategy 🇬🇧 On May 12, the we co-hosted our latest Local Parliament, “Coming Soon! Tokenizing the World’s Assets,” alongside our fantastic partners Innovate Finance and Taylor Wessing. Huge thanks to everyone who joined us for an honest, high-level conversation on where digital assets, tokenization, and modern financial infrastructure are heading next. Here are four themes that stayed with us: 1️⃣ Tokenization is becoming part of mainstream financial infrastructure. From bonds and real estate to commodities and ticketing, the conversation has clearly shifted toward real-world implementation. The technology is increasingly being treated as an upgrade to existing financial markets, not a separate system living on the sidelines. 2️⃣ The UK has strong foundations, but hesitation is becoming a risk. Several speakers pointed to the UK’s legal work, the Digital Securities Sandbox, and its global reputation for standards-setting as real advantages. But there was also a clear feeling that ambition now needs delivery, coordination, and political confidence. 3️⃣ Regulation needs vision, not just supervision. Again and again, participants came back to the importance of national strategy, regulatory clarity, and institutional leadership. The conversation moved beyond “how do we regulate this?” toward “what kind of financial system are we trying to build by 2035?” 4️⃣ Standards and interoperability will shape adoption. As tokenized markets grow, the discussion is increasingly turning toward shared standards, cybersecurity, digital identity, and infrastructure that can work across borders and across systems. Modern financial infrastructure cannot be built in silos. One of the most exciting parts of the evening was hearing how many different sectors are already thinking seriously about tokenization, from payments and stablecoins to real estate, energy infrastructure, and agentic commerce.
