A big boost to ‘Ease of Living’ and ‘Ease of Doing Business’… It’s a matter of immense delight that Parliament has passed the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill 2026. This Bill strengthens a trust-based framework that empowers our citizens. It marks the end of rules and regulations that are outdated. At the same time, it ensures speedy disposal of cases, reduces litigation burden with decriminalisation. What is also noteworthy is the consultative approach with which this Bill was drafted. My compliments to all those who have given their insights towards the drafting of the Bill and supported it in Parliament.

We in India cherish the fact that we are home to some of the world’s most extraordinary wildlife. We are home to over 70% of the world’s tiger population. We have the largest population of the one-horned rhino, the maximum Asiatic elephants. India is the only place in the world where the majestic Asiatic lion thrives.

आज World Wildlife Day है।

On the occasion of the 137th Foundation Day of the Botanical Survey of India, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all scientists, officers, staff, research scholars, post-doctorate fellows, outsourced employees and well-wishers of the organization. For more than a century, the BSI has remained at the forefront of exploring, documenting, and conserving the rich plant diversity of our nation. Our scientists, botanists, and field staff have tirelessly worked in some of the most challenging terrains—from the mighty Himalayas to the depths of dense forests where sunlight scarcely reaches, and across the slippery slopes of the Western Ghats where new species continue to bloom. Their dedication and perseverance have helped unveil many of nature’s hidden treasures. Our journey to discover and document India’s unique plant diversity will never cease, for biodiversity continues to surprise us with new forms of life. The work of the Botanical Survey of India is vital in deepening our understanding of the country’s natural heritage and strengthening conservation efforts for a sustainable future. Together, let us continue to make the Botanical Survey of India a global leader in plant science and biodiversity research and a proud institution of Atamnirbhar Bharat. - 𝑫𝒓 𝑲𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒅 𝑫𝒂𝒔, 𝑫𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓, 𝑩𝑺𝑰
