Many actually don't know Arabs settled the Rif, especially the plains of the Kert river valley (Driouch).
My clan, the Bni Oukil / Banu Wakil, came as Fihrids from Huesca (Upper march of Zaragoza, the Frontier of Al-Andalus) to Fez, and then to the Kert plain.

North Africa is as Arab as it is Berber. Together, Arabs and Berbers forged a new identity. Arab princes adopted Berber customs, Berber kings founded empires using Islam and Arabic cultural elements they valued. The result of this process cannot be called colonization.

Maltese is written in Latin, 30 - 40% Arabic vocabulary.
Maghrebi Arabic, written in Arab script, 80% Arabic vocabulary.
Mass Arab settlement in the Maghreb, which make up a big chunk of the total population.
