Africa’s most honest architecture is increasingly coming from its women.
Nzinga B. Mboup grew up between Mozambique, Cameroon, South Africa and Senegal. She saw what colonial urbanism did to African cities. Then she decided to build differently.
Her practice Worofila works with compressed earth bricks, typha plant fiber, and self-supporting earthen vaults, materials that have kept people cool in West Africa for centuries. In Dakar, where concrete dominates because it’s cheap and politically convenient, that is a radical act.
She puts it plainly: “Why did we ever stop building with earth?”
Nobody has a good answer.

Hundreds of millions of people throughout the world are immersed in extreme poverty. Yet, disproportionate wealth remains in the hands of a few. It is an unjust scenario, in the face of which we cannot fail to question ourselves and commit to change things. There is no lack of resources at the root of disparities, but the need to address solvable problems related to a more equitable distribution of wealth, to be achieved with moral sense and honesty.

They care for aging parents, work in small and large companies, and harvest the food on our tables. On weekends, they walk in our parks and play on the local amateur soccer team.

The Epstein files are trending and names like Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson are in the mix. Yet some of y’all are still hyperventilating over Meghan Sussex. If your outrage is louder for her than for people tied to Jeffrey Epstein, that’s not morals. That’s bias.

Tous les ans, les insoumis célèbrent la libération de ce crime contre l'Humanité. Pendant trois siècles, on a acheté et vendu des êtres humains. Mais ils se sont toujours révoltés.
La liberté ne leur a pas été offerte, accordée par les esclavagistes. Il a fallu qu'ils s'en libèrent eux mêmes et qu'ils créent la première République d'esclaves affranchis.

Ruth E. Carter is now the most nominated Black woman in Oscar history and that is everything. From Malcolm X to Black Panther to Sinners, she built worlds with fabric and vision. This is what real legacy looks like.
