Walaikum Salam One thing you have to know in Islam is that your connection to Allah is a direct line. You do not need a middleman to hear your prayers or accept your charity. Allah tells us in the Quran: وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ "And your Lord says, 'Call upon Me; I will respond to you.'" This invitation is for you personally. If you see a scholar to learn how to pray better or understand a ruling, that is seeking knowledge. But if you think you must see someone for your prayer to work, you are walking into a trap. You also have to be cautious because many people have turned the role of an Alfa into a business or a source of innovation. If someone claims to have special access to the unseen or asks you to do rituals that are not from the Sunnah, they are leading you away from the path. Again, using Jinns or claiming to know the future is not scholarship. It is a violation of the foundation of Tawhid. The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught Ibn Abbas in a Sahih Hadith recorded by At-Tirmidhi. He said: إذا سألت فاسأل الله وإذا استعنت فاستعن بالله "If you ask, ask of Allah; if you seek help, seek help from Allah." There is another Sahih Hadith narrated by Safiyyah, from one of the wives of the Prophet that warns us: من أتى عرافا فسأله عن شيء لم تقبل له صلاة أربعين ليلة "Whoever goes to a fortune teller and asks him about something, his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights." You do not want to block your own worship while you are trying to find relief. Giving alms is a great way to seek help, but it should be for the sake of Allah, not as a payment for an Alfa's service. If a scholar tells you to pray and give charity according to the Sunnah, that is sound advice. But you can do those things in your room, by yourself, without anyone knowing. Do not let anyone stand between you and your Lord. If you have a problem, go to the prayer mat. If you have extra, give it to those in need. You do not need a title or a special person to validate your worship. Be careful of those who sell you a cure that involves anything other than the clear path of the Quran and Sunnah. Stay grounded and keep your connection direct. Allah knows best.
