🚨 San Francisco's New Museum Honors Chinese Workers Who Build America's First Transcontinental Railroad Founded by Chinese community leader Florence Fang, the center aims to spotlight Chinese American heritage. The opening marks the 154th anniversary of the Golden Spike, which completed the transcontinental railroad, and coincides with AAPI Heritage Month. Despite their contributions, the history of about 12,000 Chinese laborers, nearly 1,200 of whom died from hazardous work conditions, has been largely forgotten. The museum intends to address this historical oversight and honor these workers who faced discrimination and accusations of "stealing" American jobs.
