Can you say, new season, new commercial 😁 and this one is with my people from Communion, Re-Sole 206, Jerk Shack Kitchen, and Art Noir. Last month, I posted some BTS photos of me shooting a new commercial for Back2Besa with the FOX 13 Seattle production team at Midtown Square in the Central District, and I can now finally share it with you all. For me, it was super important to shoot this commercial in the Central District because the CD is where I’m from. 19th and Cherry to be exact; when I went to Meany Middle School, I used to walk from my Grandmama’s house to school. So essentially, the CD has always been home to me, and it’s always been a no-brainer to highlight where I come from. With the CD being a part of Seattle, where so many of us were displaced, but these days, so many of us are returning, why not highlight that the CD is still an epicenter for Black Culture in Seattle? Big shoutout to the FOX 13 Seattle Production team for hearing my vision of what I wanted out of this commercial and bringing it to life. And also, shoutout to all of the locally owned businesses that allowed us in their space to make this commercial such a shmood. Now in its 12th year, the event continues to create a platform where both students and seasoned professionals can step on stage and show off their craft. @erecasner Black kids in Seattle today are lucky to have legends like @Omarisal @besagordon and others telling stories of black excellence at @WWConverge. Inspiration is an important component of success and these legends are filling an important role.

One would have thought he was the ONLY Black person make or female who had done anything of worth. And I’m from New Orleans a Black city and school system. I can’t imagine what it was like for Black kids in Seattle in the late 60s and 70s educational wise in their school system

This week on Back2Besa, we’re centering our youth. Our young people are carrying a lot right now — grief, uncertainty, pressure — and yet, they’re still showing up. For their schools. For their futures. For themselves. In this episode, we spend time at Garfield and Rainier Beach High Schools, listening to students, families, and educators, honoring lives lost to gun violence, spotlighting mental health resources, celebrating college opportunities at the Black College Expo, and ending with a moment of joy and pride as Rainier Beach opens the doors to their new campus. #ConvergeOnTheRoad - The energy was high in Mount Vernon, Washington when Converge's own Curtis Delgardo II, aka Cuddy, and Back2Besa host Besa Gordon (@besagordon) linked up with DJ Defkawn (@dj_defkawn) and DJ Troll King on “The Re-Up” on KSVR 91.7 FM radio. The visit demonstrated Converge Media’s commitment to connecting with communities across the Puget Sound, and showcased Besa and Cuddy’s perspectives as leaders in local Black Media. On “The Re-Up,” a hiphop public affairs variety show, Cuddy spoke about the imperative nature of Black Media, and Besa highlighted the critical role of representation, emphasizing that little Black girls are watching and seeing what’s possible. Defkawn talked about his 21 years at the station, and the imperative nature of community radio in united people with music and friendly voices. Cuddy and Besa reported feeling right at home during their time on air. Besa Gordon (@besagordon) joined @fox13seattle's Good Day Seattle this week for a meaningful conversation with Erin Mayovsky (@ErinMayovsky) about the heart behind @Back2Besa and why telling our own stories continues to matter. During the segment, Gordon reflected on launching the show in 2023 with a clear mission: to tell stories that make Black communities across the Pacific Northwest feel seen, valued, and celebrated. Now entering 2026, #Back2Besa has grown beyond Seattle, highlighting people, businesses, and organizations in Portland, Spokane, Anchorage, and communities throughout the region. Gordon shared that expanding the show’s reach has always been intentional, ensuring representation isn’t limited by geography and that viewers across the Northwest can see themselves reflected on screen. When asked how she stays motivated, Gordon spoke about the responsibility of visibility and the importance of creating pathways for the next generation. For her, Back2Besa is not just a television show, but a commitment to uplifting Black joy, honoring community leadership, and showing young people what’s possible when their stories are told with care and authenticity.
