@NZNationalParty Campaign *for* your own policies. When you tell straight-out lies, you have nothing on your side but lies. (Labour has pointed out what’s not taxed for a long time now ⬇️ We are relatively wealthy nation, and *can* spend, wisely; the austerity is *your choice*, not "needed".)

National is fixing the basics & building the future without jeopardising NZ’s long-term security. But big problems don’t have quick fixes. We cannot simply spend more, borrow more & leave Kiwis with higher debt & higher taxes. That’s exactly what Labour did last time, and it’s exactly what they - and their coalition partners - would do again.

@CovidSafeNZ Yeah, you almost couldn't pick a better place! - they do take infectious disease seriously and seem v best practice. Not an expert obv but the serology result seems quick and impt to have early.

They've found the second New Zealander - who left the hantavirus ship in late April. - In Taiwan, in hospital quarantine from 13 May to 6 June. Testing negative so far. Links below

@toddmstephenson Don’t confuse (or conflate) individuals and people. Different groups can have different clinical needs. If they do, and you are allocating resources, that should be borne in mind. If not, then you will under-serve groups with greater need.

If you have type 2 diabetes, the medicine you get should depend on your clinical need, not your ethnicity. It really is that simple. It’s great to see Pharmac consulting on changes to the eligibility criteria for type 2 diabetes medicines. This proposal will widen access to these vital medicines for up to 23,000 more Kiwis over the next five years, while officially removing the old ethnicity-based criteria. Medicines treat the condition a person has, not the background they come from. Healthcare must always focus on getting the best outcomes for patients using clear clinical evidence and individual needs. This shift didn't happen by accident. It is happening in line with the Government’s Cabinet Circular on needs-based service provision and Pharmac’s 2024/25 Letter of Expectations. @actparty campaigned hard to end race-based healthcare. We changed the rules at the top, and now the system is delivering on the ground. This is a massive step towards a health system that treats all New Zealanders equally and fairly. @actparty "Interesting" how on X you use 'race', not ethnicity. Race baiting… (Biologically there are no human races.) In public health, ethnicity can be a proxy for genetic/diet/etc. differences. That isn’t "favouring" groups; it’s helping people, reflecting different groups’ *needs*

Chris Hipkins has said today that “The kiwi dream should not be reserved for the few, it should be delivered for everybody who calls New Zealand home.” He has just called New Zealanders “the few” and that “everybody” should be delivered what we have built. The ‘kiwi dream’ belongs to kiwis who have worked hard for our country, invested time, sweat, pride, and belongs to the generations who share in our country’s history. It is not for just anybody around the world who decides to come to our great country that we have built for their convenience. Politicians like Hipkins use “diversity is a strength” to shut you down, but the choice is in your hands, not in the hands of retail globalists like him.

@mangonui08 Dumber than dumb… Obviously, oil and gas is not "cancelled". The *companies* wanted to stop *exploring* because they weren’t finding big enough leads. We *need* (not want) to move to renewable, which we slowly are. A bonus is it gives us independence from world events.

@nzfirst It is exhausting to see lobbyists and politicians _still_ playing a “there are risks” card for sweeping bans, rather than look at each product. That simply destroys the chance to do good things. Sweeping obstructions are ideological, and unhelpful.

New Zealand First has been clear - the Gene Tech Bill will not progress so long as it presents risks to human health or the environment. Laws may be outdated but that is not an excuse to compromise on fundamental safeguards.

@Gurdur Your OP is how Andes has behaved before—decent, not spectacular, transmission esp. in prolonged close-contact settings, falling to R<1 when public health interventions applied. Clade 3 isn’t new; there is a new setting & duration in that setting though. Wants decent PHIs. JMHO!

1/n #Hantavirus: this accords with my intuition. The extension can be called the landfill theory; one guy visits a landfill, gets infected, goes back to the ship, the rest are infected from him or second links. If this is kept under control, then the new strain might die out

@NZNationalParty Oh, so you’re selling The American Dream to avoid talking about the economy being smashed and your party appeasing to two small coalition parties with nasty ideas. And you’re still trying to imply other parties taxes’ are on everyone, rather than targeted at the wealthy.

If you work hard, you should be able to build a better life for yourself and your family. That’s what National stands for - lower taxes, rewarding ambition, and helping Kiwis get ahead. We delivered tax relief for low and middle-income earners for the first time in 14 years - and we’ll keep backing hardworking Kiwis. Labour, Greens and Te Pati Maori won’t. They want higher taxes and bigger government. National’s approach is simple - your money is better left in your pocket.

@actparty All the advisors on 1News pointed said a key is the lack in financial support. People still have to pay a wodge of cash to get solar installed. Not that many people can afford it. (And you can blame your coalition for making that harder, too!)
