The Pope is making exactly our point. LLMs “may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand.” This is the core epistemic fault line. Most AI evaluation is still based on one assumption: if a system statistically approximates human behaviour, then it is close to human intelligence. But approximation is not intelligence. Simulation is not understanding. LLMs can produce the right answer without knowing why it is right. They can simulate empathy without feeling. They can imitate judgment without responsibility. They can generate coherent explanations without having a world to which those explanations are accountable. Stop confusing behavioural similarity with cognitive equivalence. Human understanding is embodied, affective, relational, motivational, and normative. It is not just the production of plausible text. * Full paper in the first reply

HOW do white people manage to have such a low unemployment rate if they are SO LEFT OUT? This must be the evening performance of "Woe-Is-Me", a story of victimhood that never comes. I find this baffling, given that the group with ¬7 unemployment cannot stop whining - not the group with the highest rate, but a group of privileged clowns

Actually you do complain about it. All the time 🤣

@Cthulhucachoo So what is your point? If whites club together to look after their own, what is the problem? Whites don't complain about the "Black lawyer association.", do we? Anyway B-BB EE ensures that whites are excluded from most businesses. So ja.

@QasimRashid @jtstiffy The system has always benefited rich white men over everyone else. Look at Rick Scott, his company was responsible for the largest Medicare scam in history, was he charged criminally? No, he was charged civilly and had to pay a fine. It’s more than just money. It’s institutional

This is Timothy Hudson. He raped & killed his stepsister. A judge ruled because he’s 16 he gets to spend time at home with family awaiting trial. He’s Not an immigrant. Not a Black or brown person. A US citizen with the complexion for protection. 16 year old Kalief Browder was tortured for 3 years in prison and solitary on the mere (false) accusation that he allegedly stole a backpack. He died by suicide from the trauma. Hudson gets to chill at home after raping & killing. This is America.

It is VERY clear, and has been from the very beginning of this "protection fee industry" - from Soweto to KZN - that these construction mafias are run by or with powerful people from the government, local and national. What they have gotten away with over MANY years, without a modicum of concern from the government/state, tells you that the tentacles of these cartels reach into politics and law enforcement.

This is a hilarious ratio. Someone needs a birds and bees conversation. And a reality check. Men can be responsible for their own birth control.

In the last few days, South Africa’s immigration system has been under global scrutiny and the Minister hasn’t come out strongly to defend against baseless attacks and clarify the visa regime. It can’t just be @DIRCO_ZA ?

This is genuinely incredible and says SO SO MUCH about the perception of China in the West. This is the #1 news show in France, and the host - David Pujadas - asks the pundits around the table (a sample of the top media figures in France) if they can name 3 living Chinese people. That's it: they just need to say the names of 3 living Chinese people, anyone. This should be extremely easy. Yet not of a single one of them can name a single Chinese beyond Xi Jinping. They do not know a single living Chinese person beyond the president. That's the level of ignorance of China we're dealing with in the West today, in 2026. This is the source for the video: tf1info.fr/replay-lci/vid… Aired live yesterday 28th of May 2026.
