BREAKING: SQUARE TO AUTO-ENABLE BITCOIN PAYMENTS FOR MILLIONS OF SELLERS
Square will auto-enable Bitcoin payments for all eligible sellers starting March 30, 2026, according to an updated Terms of Service notice sent to users.
The change means millions of businesses using Square could soon begin accepting Bitcoin by default, rather than opting in manually.
The rollout is part of Block’s broader push to integrate Bitcoin payments across its ecosystem, leveraging the Lightning Network for fast, low-cost transactions.
Sellers will still have the option to disable the feature or automatically convert Bitcoin to USD at the point of sale.
With Square powering millions of merchants globally, this marks a major step toward making Bitcoin a standard payment method in everyday commerce.

Iran just told the world it will reopen the Strait of Hormuz to oil tankers, but only if the cargo is paid for in Chinese yuan. Not dollars.
This is the clearest signal yet that the petrodollar system is fracturing, and that bitcoin's value proposition as neutral, non-sovereign money has never been stronger.
20% of the world's oil flows through Hormuz. That's 21 million barrels per day. And now a major oil chokepoint is being used to force a currency switch away from the dollar.
1. Iran is blocking most tanker traffic through Hormuz amid the conflict with the US and Israel
2. China is already Iran's largest oil buyer, a ready-made counterparty for yuan settlement
3. Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil have all been settling energy trades outside the dollar over the past two years
The petrodollar isn't dying in one dramatic moment. It's being chipped away, one bilateral deal at a time, by countries that want out of a currency controlled by Washington.
But running from the dollar to the yuan is just switching one master for another. The only money no government can weaponize, freeze, or inflate away is bitcoin.
21 million. No borders. No sanctions. No strings.

Yesterday, we dove deep into Chapter 9 – The Technical Side of Bitcoin led by Glenn from @BitcoinUbuntu.
We started with the fundamentals of cryptographic identity, exploring how public and private keys create a secure, trustless system for ownership. It’s incredible to see how digital signatures serve as an invisible proof of authenticity, protecting your funds without ever revealing your private keys.
Next, we tackled the UTXO (Unspent Transaction Output) model. Unlike traditional accounts, Bitcoin works more like physical cash—splitting and combining "pieces" of bitcoin to form new transactions while meticulously accounting for every satoshi.
We then met the gatekeepers of the network:
- Nodes: The "digital traffic cops" that validate transactions and enforce the network's rules.
- Miners: The "architects of security" who use Proof-of-Work to compete for block hashes and secure the blockchain.
From the "waiting room" of the Mempool to the pre-programmed scarcity of the Halving, we saw exactly how Bitcoin remains decentralized and uncorrupted.
Key takeaways:
- Digital Signatures: Your proof of ownership and authenticity.
- UTXO Model: The foundation of transparent, traceable transactions.
- Nodes & Miners: The dual force for decentralized security and validation.
- Proof-of-Work: The mechanism that makes the ledger tamper-proof.

We have finally completed Chapter 8: Introduction to the Technical Side of Bitcoin! ⚡₿
A big thank you to our wonderful tutor, Mr. Glenn Jooste from @BitcoinUbuntu who made these technical concepts simple and easy for the students to understand. The students were very curious, asked many insightful questions, and some even earned sats for answering questions correctly! 🧠⚡💡
Learning Bitcoin is always more exciting when knowledge meets incentives. 😉
See you again next week as we begin Chapter 9. Stay tuned! 🚀📚₿

As the Btrust Builders program continues to grow, we’ve learned that scale should never come at the cost of quality or faculty well‑being.
That’s why our 2026 pathways introduce a new hybrid engagement model designed to serve more developers without compromising the learning experience.
In 2026, each pathway runs in two formats: a high‑touch live cohort and an open self‑paced track.
This approach allows us to combine structure and flexibility, giving every developer a way to learn that fits their experience, schedule, and goals.
