They're reading carefully. Re-reading confusing questions. Second-guessing their answers. Scrolling back to check what they said earlier. That gap is one of the biggest silent killers of completion rates. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝘅 𝗶𝘁: 𝟭. 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 Get someone who hasn't seen the survey to complete it and time them. That's your real estimate. 𝟮. 𝗖𝘂𝘁 𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗹𝘆 Every question that doesn't directly serve your goal — remove it. Not reduce it. Remove it. 𝟯. 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 "Question 4 of 8" is more honest than "almost done." People can handle the truth. They can't handle surprises. 𝟰. 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗽 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰 Not every question applies to every person. Irrelevant questions feel like wasted time — because they are. 𝟱. 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 Surveys always feel longer on a phone. If it drags on desktop, it's painful on mobile.
