This progress is the result of decades of research, including targeted treatments and new therapies. But more than 40,000 people are diagnosed with blood cancer every year, & some survival rates are still just 3 in 10. Research must keep going until everyone beats blood cancer.

For blood cancers, there's been real progress: • Leukaemia death rates down 9% in 10 years • Hodgkin lymphoma are down 14% • Myeloma are down 5% • Non-Hodgkin lymphoma are down 9% This means more families getting time together, amd more plans for the future made.

“They’ve been researching cancer for decades, and there’s no change.” We get comments like this a lot – but the reality is research 𝘪𝘴 making a difference. Latest figures from our friends @CR_UK show UK cancer death rates have fallen 29% since 1989 and 11% in the last decade.

For some people with mantle cell lymphoma, treatment options become extremely limited. Tecartus, a CAR T-cell therapy is currently the only treatment of its kind if the disease returns or stops responding. A hearing will take place on 30 March.

A few weeks ago we shared we’d submitted a formal appeal against NICE’s decision to remove Tecartus as a treatment for mantle cell lymphoma. We’ve now written to Health Secretary Wes Streeting MP with @AnthonyNolan & @LymphomaAction urging the government to review this decision.

The Rare Cancers Bill has received Royal Assent and is now law. I am proud to have supported this Bill through every stage in Parliament, and to have served on the Bill Committee. The Act will improve rare cancer treatment by enhancing data-sharing and requiring public reporting on access to life-saving orphan drugs, offering new hope to patients and families. For too long, those affected by rare cancers have faced fewer treatment options, less research investment and limited access to clinical trials. This is a vital step towards changing that, driving research and ensuring rare cancers are treated with the urgency they deserve. Good politics changes lives. The best politics saves lives. @BrainTumourOrg @PancreaticCanUK @braintumourrsch @Sarcoma_UK @LessSurvivable @CR_UK @bloodcancer_uk @CharityAMMF @NeuroblastomaUK @brainstrust @MaggiesCentres @lobularmoonshot @TeenageCancer

The priority now is making sure the National Cancer Plan delivers for people with blood cancer in England. This includes ensuring the ambitions of the Plan are backed by a bold NHS Workforce Plan. We're ready to work with @SharonHodgsonMP to make that happen.
