ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND PARENTS: A popular game among high school students called "Senior Assassin," where teens bring water, airsoft or any other real-looking toy guns to school or other public places, is not just a game…it has real life consequences. Nothing remotely resembling a weapon should be thought of as a joke, as those toy guns could easily be mistaken for real weapons and cause unnecessary panic. There are many games, pranks and other practical jokes that can get a few laughs for senior year. Guns, fake or not, should not be involved. Students, please think twice before engaging in this activity. Parents, please ensure that this message reaches your children.

We offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Trooper Michael Diego of the Florida Highway Patrol, who tragically suffered a medical emergency during a training exercise at the FHP Training Academy. We stand with the Florida Highway Patrol during this difficult time and shroud our badges in Trooper Diego’s honor.

#BRPDspotlight – Officer Tejeda grew up in Miami and graduated from G. Holmes Braddock High School. She continued her education and earned a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University. Officer Tejeda started her career as a Crime Scene Technician in another South Florida city. There, she had the opportunity to assist the FBI with a search for human remains, and that experience further developed her interest in law enforcement. She says helping others nurtures long-term gratitude and she is proud to serve in Boca Raton, where she feels the community’s support daily. Officer Tejeda stays active by biking, hiking, traveling and spending time with her dog, Daisy. FUN FACT: Angels Landing at Zion National Park is one of her favorite places to hike mountains.
