I’m heartbroken by this devastating news about Eric Dane. What a tragedy. He was so heroic the way he handled his diagnosis. He used his voice to let the world know what it was like living with ALS. I was honored he chose my publishing imprint to publish his memoir. He told me he wanted his family to know how much he loved them, and he wanted to leave them a story they could be proud of. My love goes out to his family, and to all those battling this cruel disease, as well as all those caring for somone battling it. Godspeed, Eric. It was an honor to know you, and we will honor your story. ♥️

Anonymous The "Extra" Sandwich My son takes two sandwiches to school every day. I asked him a few weeks ago, "Buddy, are you that hungry? You’re growing, but two lunches?" He just shrugged. "I get hungry, Mom." I didn't think much of it until I got a call from his teacher. "Mrs. Davis," she said. "I just wanted to tell you what Tyler is doing." My heart dropped. "Is he in trouble?" "No," she said. "There’s a boy in his class. His dad lost his job, and they’re living out of a motel. He hasn't brought a lunch in weeks. Tyler has been giving him the second sandwich every single day. They sit under the slide and eat together so the other kids don't see." I hung up the phone and sat at my kitchen table, crying. The next morning, I didn't say a word. I just packed two sandwiches. And I added two cookies. And two juice boxes. And a note in the second bag that said: Fuel for superheroes. Tyler saw the extra treats. He looked at me, smiled, and zipped up his backpack. We don't talk about it. We just pack the bags. Raising a good human is the hardest job in the world. But sometimes, they teach you how to be human.
