I was pleased to co-chair the discussion with Bob Sternfels and to see a strong focus on practical solutions, recognising that resilient infrastructure is not only about protecting systems against shocks, but about enabling long-term growth, competitiveness and opportunity. These conversations took place at #wef26, where dialogue, trust and collaboration across sectors remain essential to turning analysis into action.

The new report developed with McKinsey highlights a clear challenge. Emerging markets need far greater investment in energy, transport, water and digital infrastructure, yet public finances alone will not be enough. Mobilising private capital at scale requires better risk-sharing, clearer project pipelines and closer alignment between public and private actors.

We convened a strategy session at the @wef's #wef26 on Resilient Infrastructure for Growth with @McKinsey and leaders from government, business and multilateral development banks.

Nearly four years into Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty and its people under extraordinary circumstances, while engaging the international community with determination and clarity. His presence in Davos was a powerful reminder of the importance of cooperation, leadership and the continued pursuit of a just and lasting peace.

As Ukraine once again came under deadly attack this week, President Zelenskyy joined leaders from around the world to speak about what is at stake far beyond his country’s borders: Europe’s security, the resilience of democracy, and the cost of inaction in the face of aggression.

There is no shortage of ambition. What Davos showed is that there is also a growing willingness to work together and turn shared priorities into shared action. That is an encouraging signal as we look ahead. Read here: ft.com/content/e0eff2… #wef26

After days of conversations with leaders from government, business and civil society, I left more convinced that this gap can be closed. In a more fragmented world, business often has to cooperate by necessity, across borders, sectors and even competitors. That practical mindset, focused on results rather than rhetoric, offers real lessons for the wider international community.
