Less than two years ago, Texas Tech University suspended me for speaking out against genocide. Today I found out I was denied tenure.

I live in a Muslim country. Working women here are supported, & celebrated. Non-worked women are provided for & never looked down on. Both are honored, because in our culture, a woman’s worth isn’t tied to a paycheck. Meanwhile, in the West, women are told they’re “free” while being harassed on the streets, objectified in every ad, and shamed if they choose to stay home.. You want to lecture us? Come live here first. Experience the reality of Arab hospitality. Until then, stop projecting your broken society onto ours. The real oppression is thinking you know better than the women who actually live it.

It feels a bit weird to enjoy small good news amid all the horrible things happening globally, but I want to take a minute to celebrate and share that I am officially tenured!!!

KNEECAP STATEMENT: Since our statements at Coachella — exposing the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people — we have faced a coordinated smear campaign. For over a year, we have used our shows to call out the British and Irish governments' complicity in war crimes. The recent attacks against us, largely emanating from the US, are based on deliberate distortions and falsehoods. We are taking action against several of these malicious efforts. Let us be absolutely clear. The reason Kneecap is being targeted is simple — we are telling the truth, and our audience is growing. Those attacking us want to silence criticism of a mass slaughter. They weaponize false accusations of antisemitism to distract, confuse, and provide cover for genocide. We do not give a f*ck what religion anyone practices. We know there are massive numbers of Jewish people outraged by this genocide just as we are. What we care about is that governments of the countries we perform in are enabling some of the most horrific crimes of our lifetimes — and we will not stay silent. No media spin will change this. Our only concern is the Palestinian people — the 20,000 murdered children and counting. The young people at our gigs see through the lies. They stand on the side of humanity and justice. TRIGGER WARNING-VIOLENCE/LANGUAGE A 16-year-old Cree teenager was falsely accused of theft at Guilford Mall in Surrey, BC on November 12. According to her father (whom I’ve spoken to) she was targeted by mall security. The teen was with two friends who were non-Indigenous and not targeted. Her father said she was released by security afterwards, no charges. He says the family plans to pursue legal action, “Despite showing she had nothing stolen, these guards singled her out and used excessive force on her—causing emotional trauma and distress. We’re taking legal action for assault, false imprisonment, and racial discrimination. This incident isn’t isolated; it reflects a disturbing pattern of racial profiling against Indigenous youth across Canada.”
