This #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrated women’s leadership at the very grassroots! When women lead, they #AccelerateAction and place the concerns of women and girls at the very forefront, catalyzing change in the long-term! In Uttar Pradesh, in partnership with @uppanchayatiraj, C3 held a state-level workshop for grassroots women leaders (Mahila Pradhans) in Lucknow, where @ChiefSecy_UP, Shri Manoj Kumar Singh, felicitated exemplary Mahila Pradhans and and launched a flipbook developed by C3 on Gram Panchayat Development Plans – a powerful tool to empower Mahila Pradhans in their leadership roles. This collaborative workshop platformed the voices and experiences of Mahila Pradhans from across the state, who discussed their leadership challenges and triumphs, creating a space for knowledge-sharing. What’s more is that the event also platformed a short film showcasing inspiring women-led transformation! This spirit of inspiration and collaboration also shaped a groundbreaking gathering in Bihar on International Women’s Day. C3 facilitated and supported women leaders in conducting 63 Mahila Gram Sabhas (village-level gatherings of women), across 63 Gram Panchayats of 8 districts in Bihar. For the very first time, all Gram Panchayats conducted these special Sabhas as per the directives of the Panchayati Raj Department, dedicating a platform to 6500+ women and girls, who participated in discussions on pressing issues affecting women and girls in the region - such as education, safety, gender-sensitive spaces, employment etc. This event culminated in a felicitation of different women who have defied gender norms, earning recognition for their resilience and achievements and reiterating the need for inclusive governance and equitable opportunities! JEEViKA Didi Adhikar Kendras lead the way as focal points for enabling women’s access to entitlements in Bihar! Celebrating the week of International Women’s Day, @brlps_jeevika co-organized a state level workshop with C3, spotlighting the gender-transformative change women’s collectives in Bihar have been catalyzing through Didi Adhikar Kendras (DAKs) - also known as  Gender Resource Centres. These centers serve as crucial spaces bridging rural women’s access to social entitlements, support services for gender-based violence, and strengthening women-led support systems. C3 is a technical partner of the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotions Society (BRLPS)-JEEViKA, in its pioneering gender integration efforts within one of India’s largest women’s collective networks. And to reflect on this journey of shaping gender-equitable communities together, the workshop brought together the JEEViKA senior leadership to an interface with JEEViKA Didis - who provide direct support to women at the Gender Resource Centres. The JEEViKA Didis also shared their firsthand experiences of counselling survivors of gender-based violence and connecting them to key support services and legal institutions. Starting with a pilot in 3 districts and now scaling up to 260 Didi Adhikar Kendras across all 38 districts of Bihar, JEEViKA and C3 continue to work together to build gender-responsive community institutions. The workshop was also an opportunity to chart the next phase of this scale-up, with Shri Himanshu Sharma, IAS, CEO, BRLPS-JEEViKA providing valuable insights on the ways forward and urging the JEEViKA team to address social norms around child marriage and gender-based violence. JEEViKA’s digital module on gender trainining was launched on this occasion by Shri Himanshu Sharma, Ms Abhilasha Kumari Sharma - additional CEO, JEEViKA, and Dr Aparajita Gogoi, Executive Director, C3. When women leaders take charge, they transform their communities, and pave the way for a brighter future. This is what C3’s all new Shakti Dhara Initiative seeks to accomplish - leveraging the leadership of women Panchayat Mukhiyas (Panchayat Heads) in Bihar to enhance the financial agency, entrepreneurial skills, and self-reliance pathways of women at the community level. At Shakti Dhara’s Women’s Leadership Camps in 3 districts of Bihar, women Mukhiyas came together to build their leadership skills, share their journeys, inspire one another, and ignite change in their Panchayats. Through aspiration mapping and self-sufficiency exercises, these camps empowered Mukhiyas to guide women in their communities toward financial independence, better health, and brighter futures. One Mukhiya expressed it best: "Shaktidhara has turned me into a dreamer for my village and a doer for my people." For two decades, C3 has closely engaged with women Panchayat Leaders, equipping them to lead with impact and ensure lasting progress.
