For many people, the answer is snakes.
Ontario is home to 17 native snake species, and most are harmless to people. They play an important role by naturally controlling rodent populations while serving as prey for birds of prey, mammals, and other wildlife.
Healthy wetlands, forests, grasslands, and native vegetation all contribute to habitats that help snakes and countless other species thrive. Protecting biodiversity means protecting every piece of the ecosystem. 🌾
