I love this visual for hitters. It gives context to what the barrel is doing before and after contact. Are we staying through it long enough to survive off-speed? Do our barrel angles in each quadrant actually match the angle of the pitch? Or are we spending too much time in windows that don’t produce hard contact? Contact isn’t a moment. It’s a window and length, but where we produce that length matters. The longer the barrel lives on plane through 8 → 4, the more margin we create. Hitters that translate don’t rely on perfect timing. They build windows big enough to handle imperfection.
