Azerbaijan has now successfully handed over the COP Presidency to Brazil. Following the guidance of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, we worked to bring people together, to be an honest broker and to push for the highest possible ambition. We are proud of the historic outcomes achieved at COP29 across all pillars of climate action. Our Presidency has finished, but Azerbaijan will continue its leadership and bridging role for the global climate action continue to deliver. It was a great pleasure to join the COP31 Zero Waste Retreat led by the COP31 Climate High-Level Champion, @samedagirbas. It was inspiring to see the clear vision and enthusiasm of such a dynamic team. It was also great to catch up with Ana Toni, CEO of COP30. I look forward to working closely with him to ensure sustained momentum toward delivery and implementation, and I am confident that #COP31 will be a great success.

Azerbaijan congratulates Türkiye and Australia for reaching an agreement to organise COP31 in partnership. Our Deputy Foreign Minister, Chief Negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev, was honoured to mediate this negotiation together with Ambassador Mauricio Lyrio of Brazil. We thank everyone involved and all the Parties for agreeing to this innovative approach. We also warmly welcome Ethiopia as host of COP32. Azerbaijan stands ready to offer our full support as everyone continues to deliver success at COP31 and COP32.

At the FAST & CCAC Ministerial Meeting at #COP30, Azerbaijan’s COP29 representative Elchin Guliyev stressed agriculture’s vulnerability to climate change and highlighted the Baku Harmoniya Climate Initiative for Farmers, underscoring the urgency of improving access to climate finance for adaptation and resilience in rural areas.

Ms. Umayra Taghiyeva, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, today spoke at the High-Level Event on Global Climate Action, reflecting on the important role that the Action Agenda plays in mobilising the whole society in support of collective climate goals. She discussed the important work being achieved by COP29 and COP30's shared Action Agenda and called on everyone to engage in it's five year plan to accelerate implementation. #COP29 #COP30

The COP29 President spoke at a COP30 High Level Dialogue on the protecting the cryosphere. In his remarks, he reflected on the impacts that climate change is already having on the cryosphere around the world, including in Azerbaijan, and reflected on the progress made at COP29 in supporting communities as they adapt to the impacts of the climate crisis. #COP29 #COP30

The COP29 President joined @schneidercar, Environment Minister for Germany, at an event on energy storage and grids in the German Pavilion at COP30. In his remarks, he praised the work done at COP30 to build on the momentum created by the COP29 Global Energy Storage and Grids Pledge, and reflected on the important work of organisations including @GRA_Renewables in driving the energy transition. #COP29 #COP30

The COP29 President delivered remarks at the Baku High-Level Dialogue on Adaptation at COP30. He reflected on the important progress on adaptation seen at previous COPs, including the progress on adaptation finance and planning at COP29, and highlighted the importance of the Baku Adaptation Roadmap to guide progress on the Global Goal on Adaptation beyond COP30. #COP29 #COP30

The UNFCCC has formally recognised Azerbaijan’s professionalism and strong organisation of COP29. On 17 November at COP30 in Belém, the COP29 Presidency met with the UNFCCC Secretariat to discuss expanding cooperation, including the engagement of Azerbaijani specialists in future international climate projects and events. This growing partnership reflects the confidence the international community has in Azerbaijan’s expertise and its strengthened role in advancing global climate diplomacy. #COP29 #COP29Azerbaijan

The COP29 Presidency and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in cooperation with UNEP, organized an event at the Azerbaijan Pavilion on enhancing joint efforts to respond to the Caspian Sea level decline at COP30. The COP29 Presidency underlined that Azerbaijan will pull every lever available to protect the Caspian, including strengthening regional collaboration among the Caspian littoral states and mobilizing global expertise, finance, and support. During the meeting, participants also adopted the Declaration of Ministers and High-Level Representatives of the Caspian Littoral States on Enhancing Cooperation on the Decline of the Caspian Sea Level, reaffirming their shared commitment to joint action. #COP29 #COP30 #CaspianSea #UNEP #CaspianCooperation
