98 years ago today: Trooper Irving Nelson was shot & killed while pursuing suspects on his motorcycle in Northeast CT. In 2025, a section of Route 97 in Pomfret was dedicated to Trooper Nelson.

CSP remembers TFC Miller, who died in the line of duty on March 29, 2018. He was operating his patrol car on I-84 in Tolland when he crashed into a tractor trailer that was operating significantly slower than highway traffic.

CSP celebrates K9 Veterans Day with all of our working dogs! Pictured here is K9 Roso, who died in November 2025 following medical issues. K9 Roso was the partner of TFC Aaron Pelletier, who died in the line of duty on May 30, 2024.

Today marks 115 years of celebrating International Women’s Day. CSP is proud of our female Troopers, some of whom are pictured here with other New England State Troopers at a women’s leadership conference in 2025.

50 years ago today: On February 13, 1976, Trooper Carl P. Moller was assisting a motorist on I-84 in West Hartford when they were both struck and killed by a passing truck driver.

CSP remembers Trooper Ernest Morse, End of Watch: Feb. 13, 1953. Trooper Morse was shot by a suspect he pursued on the Wilbur Cross Pkwy. Sailors from Groton found Trooper Morse in the roadway, but he died later at a local hospital.

40 years ago today: CT State Police remembers Trooper James Savage, End of Watch: January 22, 1986. Trooper Savage was traveling home after a shift with the Traffic Squad & was assisting a motorist on Route 8 in Watertown when he was struck & killed by a distracted driver.
