As you may have heard, this summer Southern California had a salp bloom… but what exactly is a salp? 🤔 Salps are gelatinous planktonic animals that belong to the Tunicate Phylum. We saw so many on our summer cruise!

We incorporated new CalCOFI stations within these Sanctiaries Last fall, we had a special cruise to test out these new stations & this cruise was the 1st time we've fully integrated these stations into our routine cruise pattern.

Spring #CalCOFI 2023 a success! We ended in San Francisco on Monday to a beautiful view of the #GoldenGateBridge We're collaborating with the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, #ChannelIslands & #MontereyBay to enhance our respective missions
