One of my co chiefs last year had a sim on eye foreign bodies with a slit lamp, hard boiled egg, and lead. 10/10 would recommend. My residents loved it!

It is Family Violence Prevention Week on PEI, so today I’m in purple.
It is no secret that I am a victim of intimate partner violence that took me years to escape.
Getting out is dangerous and victims face many difficulties escaping.
Be aware of how to support victims. ⬇️

@lorianebird The three years was my undergrad. I started undergrad when my oldest child started kindergarten (and started med school when my second child started kindergarten.) I got in out of my third year.

@CanadianKayMD And BTW, I’m sure it was much more than 3 years of hard work you put in… med school prep is *many* years in the making. High school, undergrad (post grad for some), MCAT prep & sitting (maybe more than once). Then come the applications & interviews. Then the waiting…

I love it every year when this comes up in my memories. Legitimately one of the best days in my life besides my kids’ births.
When I got the email I ran to my friend’a cubicle and fell because I’d forgotten about my recently-sprained ankle in my excitement.

All that burns isn't a UTI. I don't do a mega-work-up on every patient, but all that burns isn't a UTI. Will the Ontario pharmacist (already under corporate workplace pressure) consider a broad differential diagnosis for your dysuria based on history, physical exam and testing.

Key reporting on the spike in waits in Ontario's ERs. Pharmacists aren't the answer. Calluses and corns, dandruff, dry eye, head lice, jock itch, mild headache, nasal congestion, ringworm and warts (expanded pharmacist prescribing) has zero to do with ER waits. @TinaYazdani

The Ford government says it is addressing capacity pressures inside hospitals, even as a new report finds a sharp spike in ER wait times is putting patients at risk. The majority of hospitals are also forecasting budget deficits. We ask the health minister about the findings:

@NeilFlochMD I actually use a low dose GLP1a to manage my postbariatric hypos & I suspect it is likely why I have complete and sustained remission of obesity. I had a sleeve so a ‘less effective’ but lower risk surgery & I could see combination approaches replacing higher risk surgeries.

Bariatric surgery and GLP-1ra medications used together have an additive effect. This is “the secret sauce” of obesity treatment and long-term control. To think that one treatment should be considered only for a patient sacrifices the chance to achieve the greatest success.

I made birria. Then I made (tiny) corn tortillas with some of the sauce in them to make birria tacos.

Finally did a chin up today. And I can lift myself up on my resistance straps fully with my legs extended.
Here I am a formerly severely obese woman pushing 40, dealing with hypermobility and an autoimmune joint disease, and I am stronger now than I ever have been.
Feels good.
