Thank you @KirkPWatson, please call 3-1-1 if you or a loved one need a warm and safe place to stay.
Mayor Kirk Watson@KirkPWatson

Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing. Icy road conditions are continuing, and any ice that melts this afternoon could potentially refreeze tonight. Please stay off the roads if you can. Just because a road is passable — doesn’t mean it’s safe. I am saddened to share some tragic news this morning. We have experienced the first fatality related to this winter storm. This fatality is exposure-related. This is a sad reminder of the critically important work that is being done by our Cold Weather Sheltering and our warming centers. Tragedies like this are completely preventable. If you need sheltering, PLEASE take advantage of all the resources the City has. 24-Hour Cold Weather Shelters have been extended through Tuesday morning (01/26/2026). Guests may remain in the shelters during the day and are not required to leave in the morning. Last night, we had 659 people in our shelters. We have six current active shelters and are adding capacity to make sure we meet the needs. CapMetro service is still suspended, but if you’d like to join us at a shelter, call 3-1-1 and we will pick you up. We will pick you up, we will drive you to the shelter, we will feed you while you’re there, and most importantly, we will keep you warm and safe. CapMetro will have a delayed start on Monday.
