Viktor Frankl was a survivor of the Holocaust and opposed physician-assisted suicide. As a physician, Frankl opposed a so-called "quality of life" philosophy, which was taught and practiced by Nazi physicians. For them, human beings have lives "not worthy to be lived," if, for example, they are not useful to others and cannot contribute to society. Such weak and sickly persons would be better off dead, relieving others of financial and emotional burdens. For Frankl, human beings have unconditional value. In other words, they, first, have value because of who they are, not what they do nor how much they contribute to society. That is to say, humans always have ontological value, which is the inherent value or dignity of being persons, regardless of how well or ill they are. @PierrePoilievre @joerogan

Euthanasia is routinely offered to Canadian seniors unsolicited. Muriel says she was offered MAID: •By her family doctor •By a specialist •By a funeral home  “This is almost being advertised and promoted,” she told me. How do you think this makes seniors feel?

I met an 84-year-old woman who was offered euthanasia at a Canadian hospital practically upon arrival. Miriam didn’t want to die. She recovered well and travelled to Cuba, Mexico, and Guatemala. Stop offering death to people who have adventures to lead!

The Government of Alberta is showing leadership by banning euthanasia for Albertans whose deaths are not "reasonably foreseeable." This means that Alberta will be the first province to scrap Track 2 MAID! 2/10

Alberta is proactively banning euthanasia for children, persons whose sole underlying condition is a mental illness, those without the capacity to make their own health care decisions, and those unable to give contemporaneous consent. 3/10

The federal government has never stipulated what is meant by "reasonably foreseeable death." Now, Alberta is mandating that euthanasia be restricted to those with a prognosis of 12 months or less. 4/10

Alberta is also stepping up its conscience protections for doctors, nurses, and healthcare institutions so that they can keep practicing medicine in the Hippocratic tradition of 'Do no harm.' 5/10

Canada is known globally for having a terribly permissive euthanasia regime but Minister @MickeyAmery thinks Albertans deserve better: "The reality here in Alberta is hope should always be easier to access than death." 7/10

Alberta Justice Minister @MickeyAmery also says: "We know a compassionate society should never rush people towards death. Instead it should rush to provide supports to help them." 8/10

"Troubling stories have emerged of people seeking unrelated services from government bureaucrats and having those bureaucrats tell them to pursue death instead." Thanks to MP @GarnettGenuis for introducing Bill C-260. carenotcoercion.ca

Canada is continuing to kill itself. Health Canada just released its mandated annual report on euthanasia—on a Friday afternoon. The data is shocking. Euthanasia is now the 4th most common cause of death, only fewer than deaths from cancer, heart disease, and accidents.
