On 4 Dec, the Embassy & Tourism Malaysia Moscow held a breakfast meeting with 23 Russian media reps. A lively session of exchanging ideas and views in promoting Msia as a top tourist destination, esp VM 2026.

On 10 Dec 2024, Secretary General Dato’ Sri Amran Mohamed Zin had a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, H.E. Andrey Rudenko in Putrajaya. They discussed bilateral relations & exchanged views on 🇲🇾’s Chairmanship of ASEAN as well as regional & intl. issues.

On 5 Nov 2024, TYT Dato' Duta Besar presented his letters of credence to President Vladimir Putin at the Alexander Hall, Great Kremlin Palace, Moscow. TYT Dato' Cheong LL is officially the 16th Malaysian Ambassador to 🇷🇺. The ceremony included 27 other foreign ambassadors.

Hari ini menerima kunjungan hormat Menteri Luar Rusia Sergey Lavrov yang kini dalam lawatan rasmi dua hari ke Malaysia bermula Sabtu di Seri Perdana, Putrajaya. Perbincangan kami seputar isu penyertaan Malaysia ke dalam gabungan BRICS yang merupakan antara intipati utama perbincangan, dan Malaysia telah menghantar surat permohonan kepada Rusia selaku Pengerusi organisasi antara kerajaan, BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China dan Afrika Selatan) baru-baru ini. Kami menyentuh aspek pengukuhan kerjasama dua hala, dan Malaysia menegaskan agar hubungan sedia ada dipertingkat dan diperkukuh terutama dalam sektor pelaburan dan perdagangan, sains dan teknologi, pertanian, pertahanan dan ketenteraan, pendidikan serta pelancongan dan budaya. Saya diapit Menteri Luar Negeri Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Menteri Pertahanan Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin dan Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir dalam pertemuan ini. Our discussions primarily centered on Malaysia’s recent application for membership in the BRICS alliance, which Russia currently chairs. This potential membership holds substantial promise for both nations and underscores our commitment to fostering robust international collaboration. We also explored avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on strengthening ties in key areas such as investment and trade, science and technology, agriculture, defense and military, education, and tourism and culture. Our conversation extended to pressing global issues, including the ongoing situation in Palestine. Both Malaysia and Russia underscored the imperative need for a permanent ceasefire, immediate humanitarian relief, and the recognition of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations. Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, Malaysia reiterated its stance on the importance of dialogue and diplomatic efforts as the path to a sustainable resolution. On 28 May 2024, TYT Duta Besar participated in the 1st meeting of the Working Group on Education, Science & Technology (EST) between 🇲🇾🇷🇺. The meeting focused on strengthening EST cooperation between 🇲🇾🇷🇺; as a follow-up from the 2nd JC ESTC that was held in KL in 2023.

TYT Dato' Duta Besar attended this year's Victory Day parade on 9 May. It marks the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi in WW2. This year's Victory Day parade is the coldest ever in the past 25 years.

On 14-18 May, TYT Dato' Duta Besar participated in the XV International Economic Forum 'KazanForum' 2024. It was participated by more than 20k participants (87 countries). 🇲🇾 was represented by more than 50 reps, including 11 exhibitors who were part of the 🇲🇾 Pavillion.

On 16 May 2024, TYT Dato' Duta Besar witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UM and Kazan Faderal University (KFU) during KazanForum 2024. The MoU will focus on collaboration in the sphere of public policy and Islamic finance.

On 20 May 2024, TYT Dato' Duta Besar witnessed the signing of an MoU between UM and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) in Moscow. The MoU will give focus on collaboration on leadership development between both universities.

On 31 May 2024, TYT Dato’ Duta Besar, along with YBhg. Datuk Khairul Shahril bin Idrus, DG of NADMA; paid a courtesy call on H.E. Kurenkov A.V., Minister of EMERCOM of Russia. The meeting discussed the potential collaboration between NADMA and EMERCOM.
