Today always hits a little heavy. Memorial Day, I always find myself going back to Afghanistan and thinking about the 21 brothers we lost during our 2011 to 2012 deployment with 1/25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, the Arctic Wolves. These weren’t just soldiers to us. These were the guys we laughed with, struggled with, fought beside, and counted on every single day. I still remember the feeling every time the radio went off. Everyone would go quiet and pray it wasn’t another one of ours. After losing so many, every call felt heavy. Memorial Day is different when you personally know the faces behind the names. When you’ve stood in formation missing people who should still be there. So while people are enjoying the long weekend today, I just ask that you take one moment to remember the men and women who never got to come home. Pray for their families. Say their names. Remember their sacrifice. Because freedom has always cost somebody something. Strike First. Strike Hard. Arctic Wolves Always. My great grandmother lost her only son who went to Vietnam as a teenager. At 19 his life was taken, far away from home. The sacrifice that American families made throughout the generations can never be forgotten.

This is Patricia! I met her while door knocking in mesa for the recall election. She was shocked her sign didn’t scare me away! (See picture) When she answered I told her that sign told me I was in ally territory. Her husband served 10 years in the marine corps, 12 years in the national guard, and 24 years in the department of corrections before he passed away in 2019. Not only has she already voted for Taylor but she’s already telling her neighbors to do so as well!
