Ever wondered what happens after you flush?
That water does not just disappear. It travels through an underground system to a treatment plant, where it goes through multiple, very thorough steps to be cleaned.
For a deeper look into the process, check out our full wastewater treatment video: bit.ly/3PihYA7

Five years ago, we filled Citizens Reservoir for the first time.
Built from a retired limestone quarry, it was the first new reservoir in Central Indiana in more than 50 years. Today, it stores more than 3 billion gallons of water and plays an important role in keeping our water supply strong during dry conditions.
Projects like this help ensure reliable water for our community today and for future generations. Here's to five years!
P.S. Click through to see the reservoir before it was filled!

There’s something special about sitting in a dark theatre with strangers, all experiencing the same story.
That’s the magic of Kan-Kan Cinema & Brasserie.
As a locally owned nonprofit art house cinema, the Kan-Kan exists to enrich Indianapolis through film education, exhibition, and community engagement. Since opening, they’ve collaborated with more than 100 nonprofit and community groups, creating space for stories that reflect and strengthen our city.

Spring is around the corner, but winter’s freezing temperatures may have led to higher natural gas bills for some customers. While Citizens natural gas bills consistently remain among the lowest in Indiana, we understand utility costs can still be challenging. Assistance programs are available to help.

Meet Shannon Frederick, Corporate Events and Philanthropy Coordinator at Citizens Energy Group. Outside of her role at Citizens, Shannon also serves as a volunteer with CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions for a program called Pet Connect, which provides pet food to homebound seniors. Many seniors rely on their pets for companionship, and with limited, fixed incomes, even pet food can be a challenge.
We are proud to spotlight Citizens team members like Shannon who serve both inside and outside our organization, reflecting the values that guide our work every day.

Indianapolis runs on more than infrastructure.
It runs on early mornings.
On muddy boots and safety vests.
On late-night calls and steady hands.
On problem-solvers, planners, and people who care deeply about this city.
Our employees show up every single day to keep water flowing, homes & businesses comfortable, and wastewater moving safely through the system, often without anyone ever seeing the work it takes to make that happen.
From field crews and plant operators to engineers, scientists, dispatchers, customer service reps, and the teams supporting them behind the scenes, every single role at Citizens plays a part in keeping our community safe.
To our Citizens team: Thank you for serving our neighbors with excellence.
Help us show them some love! 💙 Drop a comment to thank the employees who keep Indy running or share a story about an employee who went above and beyond for you.

Indiana’s winter moratorium on utility disconnections ends March 15.
The moratorium helps protect qualifying customers from disconnection of natural gas and electricity services during the coldest months of the year.
If you are behind on your bill, help is available. Citizens offers payment plans and can connect customers with assistance programs that may help cover a portion of their utility costs.
→ Call our Customer Service team at (317) 924-3311 to discuss payment options
→ Visit citizensenergygroup.com/assistance to learn about available programs
We encourage customers who need help to reach out before the moratorium ends so we can work together on a solution.

Thirty years of planning.
More than a decade of construction.
Billions of gallons of water protected.
The DigIndy Tunnel System is complete and Indianapolis is cleaner because of it. Thank you to the hundreds of people who poured years of work, care, and commitment into making this happen for our city and to our community members as they waited patiently through construction for the finalization of the tunnel system.
