Once the defense realizes you’ve got no problem standing in there, taking the hit, and delivering the ball... everything else about your game gets better. Physicality sets up finesse. Toughness buys you time. Time buys you clarity. Clarity buys you precision. In the pocket: Stand tall. Keep your eyes downfield. Absorb contact and stay on platform. They have to know you’re not flinching. With your mind: Go through progressions like a pro. Use your eyes to move safeties. Use your cadence to control the line. That’s finesse. With the ball: Throw with conviction. Anticipate windows. Place it where only we can get it. Ball placement is how we win games late. They feel your toughness first. Loud anger and demeaning sarcasm kills good teaching. When the volume of our tempers goes up, the clarity of our message goes down. Kids stop hearing the correction and they only feel the frustration. So check your rage at the door. What we need is standards, accountability, and love for the process. Don’t let our bad day cost a kid their love for why they showed up in the first place. They signed up to get better. To compete. To be part of something special. Let’s protect that.
