But hitters still want to set up the pitching machine in the middle of the rubber. McLean release is 3.5 feet from middle of the rubber. Train hard so the game is easier. PS- hitting is hard! LOL

@gritnj I promise you the last thing I’m doing is putting myself before any of my athletes so you trying to say I have my own agenda is extremely disrespectful. My job is to help kids get achieve their dream of playing college baseball and there is more to it than just hitting

The goal is consistent hard contact. If a player barrels a ball, coaches should praise it. ESPECIALLY with younger players. Nothing is worse than barreling a ball in the cage, feeling good about it, and your coach shoot it down because it wasn’t on the ground. And the reason is because “you’re not a power hitter” Any ‘coach’ that’s not praising barrels has their own agenda. (See comment section) I praise consistent hard contact… Then figure out how we can optimize quickness.

@gritnj I can barrel a ball foul so that doesn’t really matter in terms of trying to get a hit. A majority of hitters aren’t hitting homers dead center so that barrel leads to outs for most guys. A different conversation can be about getting in the weight room so it can lead to hits

If this was indoor cage BP, you be mad at these players? Don’t lie, you wouldn’t be happy when you see your guys hitting the top of the net all the time. Meanwhile, those same results are actually liners for hits in the game. 🤷‍♂️ #gritnj

@GowagsKyle So train in uncomfortable positions sometimes (letting the inside pitch get deeper than normal). Because, would you agree that extension also allows you to get more hits?
