Our political system is broken. It creates conflict by pitting us against each other, rewarding the loudest voices instead of the smartest solutions. Forcing many good people to just give up. It doesn’t have to be this way. That’s why everyday Illinoisans are launching a mainstream Independent movement in Illinois. Led by Independent candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor who know the price of groceries and the weight of a mortgage. Not millionaires or billionaires—hard-working Illinoisans focused on common sense solutions. The Daily Herald has done a tremendous job covering the suburbs, a region that struggles to get the attention given to Chicago (despite having double the population of the city). I hope the Trib continues and builds on that legacy.

Ready for another summer of high electricity prices thanks to JB Pritzker? Bills are going up again June 1st (by at least 14%). Turns out, when you spike demand by pushing for as many data centers as possible without any guardrails to protect Illinoisans, while decreasing supply by closing cleaner natural gas power plants too quickly, energy prices skyrocket for working families, small businesses, and manufacturers. If only there had been some warning. (There was. We have been warning about this for years. Pritzker doesn't care.)

This is what Illinois is competing with...and there's a chance we could lose. It's time we got our act together. We shouldn't be losing to Indiana in anything. "In the past, area residents fought to get the site cleaned up. The result was a golf course built on top of a mountain of slag — a rocky waste product from steel production — that was capped with bio-solids that are treated human waste. The location also sits near several hazardous waste sites, across the street from an oil tank storage complex, and in the shadow of the Midwest’s largest oil refinery."

We absolutely need reform to the ballot access process. Good people should have an opportunity to run to serve in their government without having to run under a party. We will be talking about this in the campaign...

The best part about running for office is getting to do it with my family. Having Abbey and Teddy by my side for this, plus all the support from our families, is so special!

@CollinCorbett @olerismonlane WHY??? Do you want to hand Illinois back to Pritzker?!!!! Read the Room, This is NOT the time. Help put Bailey in then run against him in 4 years. You have zero name recognition, build that first, but right now no matter how good your ideas are you are nothing but division!

To combat skyrocketing gas prices in Illinois, we can and should continue to talk about the gas tax, but the bigger culprit is the state double taxing us at the pump. Illinois is one of only a few states that double taxes gas, levying a sales tax on top of gas taxes. Worse, because this sales tax is a percentage (6.25%), the more expensive gas becomes, the more taxes we pay. With the state bringing in so much more revenue than anticipated, JB Pritzker and Springfield could do something to help temporarily lower our pain at the pump. But they won't, because they think you'll blame Trump and Republicans for gas prices, and winning a petty partisan fight is more important to them than helping working families. Illinoisans deserve better. #twill
