@Colvick I fully expected it tbh. People will focus on Scott (& fair enough) but bigger issue IMO is the overall list quality. It's truly one of the least-talented senior lists I've seen in my entire lifetime watching the game. Some decent kids, but SO many bog average vanilla players.

Starting to think Essendon's just taking the piss at selection now. No consistency with selection policy, no continuity, pretty bloody tedious, really.🙄

@hosko Definitely part of the problem. Even before streaming, younger audiences historically more fickle - no network allegiance and will stick with a show for a while and then move on to the next big thing.

@Colvick Think they are just the canary in the coal mine. They always targeted a younger audience and that audience was the first to move to streaming.

When I’ve spoken to executives from Channels 7 and 9 in the past they say they want Channel 10 to rate well because it is good for competition and good for free-to-air television in the streaming era. So why does Channel 10 keep stuffing it up? It is like they have a death wish.

@tevand95 Remember that Ten did an excellent job with Big Bash cricket. They brought a freshness to telecasts. They would definitely be stronger with AFL.

@Colvick A real sliding doors moment here but imagine if it was Ch10 with the rights now and not Ch7.

@Colvick Lets not forget dumping the project too for no good reason and replacing it with a copy of A Current Affair

Channel 10 has a bad habit of shooting itself in the foot. Hurt Australian Survivor by changing hosts. Hurt I’m A Celebrity by pre-recording. All in the name of cost cutting. But if ratings plummet then surely the changes are self-defeating.

@tevand95 We’ve seen a trend towards networks using sport to fill out the week and only really programming original content Sunday to Wednesday at the most. Losing AFL was a pure money-based decision from Ten which (hindsight) was wrong.

@Colvick The revival of Big Brother was very very popular it seems. It went to the original format. Losing the AFL coverage back in 2011 was a death knell for them I think. They had a good thing going for them on Saturdays.

@kevinperry The ad for that has played probably 50 times on 9Now while I have been watching Chicago Med. Enough already! I live in Victoria - I don’t give a rats about NRL!

A Private Life (in cinemas) is worth a look - a quirky psychological mystery. Jodie Foster excellent in the lead role.

Interesting to look at the city by city ratings for 7 and 9 breakfast shows. Yesterday, Sunrise v Today a close tussle in Sydney (73k v 70k) and Brisbane (59k v 63k) but bigger difference in Melbourne (59k v 46k). Sunrise dominated in Adelaide (23k v 10k) and Perth (43k v 11k).

@jakewilliamsjrw Yes Nine always bragged about Today’s east coast ratings dominance but can’t do that based on those figures. Melbourne especially lagging.

@Colvick Today has really fallen back this year. Used to win the east coast comfortably.

@RalphyHeraldSun Will be a great moment though not a fan of the whole golden thing which feels very flash US-inspired. Interesting that Grundy put Pies to the sword the other night and Cox doing well at Dockers. Some cast-offs making a statement.

Yes. And would have helped against the Hawks. He's playing too well for his own good so he when he picks and chooses the milestone at home we criticise him. But the home game will be worth $1.7-$1.8m to the Pies and he wanted to do it in front of family and friends. Can see both sides. Pies might have hoped they were the kind of team which started 14-2 last year so it wouldn't matter. Reckon Pendles has been so good for so long that he's put all 17 rivals to the sword. So that's part of the backlash over the golden No.10, the salary cap exemption, the resting dramas. Let's face it, they aint winning the flag this year so in the end we will look at it as an iconic moment played out on the MCG and will understand why he wanted it in Melbourne and it wont cost them the flag either way
