@ScottUrich Of course the radios should work, no question there. From what I know, it was around 20s from the initial spin to Ralf’s accident. More than enough time to go full course yellow which would immediately slow everyone down. Poor job from race control.

@CooperMacNeil They actually did display double yellow but those flag guys were at the block car sight which was too late. I don’t disagree with any of the flag issues could have been prevented if it was displayed properly just saying an added layer needs to be teams have working radios

Unacceptable. This should have never happened had race control done their JOB. The Merc is one of the safest cars I’ve driven and he still broke his back. Ridiculous. I hope Ralf heals quickly 🙏🏻

@ScottUrich The 75 and 888 almost got collected as well. I’d hardly say they were off pace because of a team radio call. Again, going SC would have displayed double waving yellows and SC boards at every MP and this crash would have been avoided.

@CooperMacNeil The flags definitely would have helped but the reason most of the other drivers didn’t wreck was their team came over the radio and told them to slow down. Ralf never got that radio call. He was in front because he couldn’t pit with no communication with the team

@ScottUrich Interesting, I did not know his radio wasn’t working. However had it gone SC he would have seen the flags and SC boards at each flagging station and slowed down, no?

@CooperMacNeil This was a two fold bad job. Race control did a poor job of communicating a yellow flag at the station before the stopped car and they should have black flagged Ralf for not having a working radio. Both things could have prevented him from getting hurt.

@bigyelohedfones Have you seen the seat in the thing? It’s built very well. Short of a Hendrick NASCAR seat (which they built and installed a custom one in my 488GT3) it’s definitely up there IMO. But I agree, 3 broken backs in the last few years is terrible!

@CooperMacNeil Forgot to include Auer’s broken back at Daytona a few years ago. Yeah this Bathurst incident seems like it could’ve been avoided but I’m just not buying the safety of the Merc being top of the line compared to other OEM’s

@CooperMacNeil Jules broke his back driving on grass at VIR. I hope there are safer GT3 cars out there.

@SteveAriana There were flags AT the incident but not at the MP before that which is what should have happened. Or bring out the safety car. Race control knew the car was stopped and for a long time and knew the leaders were coming in hot and did nothing.
