As Canada’s largest private sector union @uniforcanada plays a vital role in protecting workers’ rights, strengthening our economy, and ensuring that Canadians continue to have good, high-paying jobs. During my meeting with UNIFOR, we discussed how our government’s investments in Canadian industry and resources are driving growth, supporting workers. Today communities across Canada celebrate Nowruz, meaning “new day” and marking the start of spring. Nowruz symbolizes life, hope, and new beginnings as communities welcome the arrival of spring. It is a time of renewal, where the past year is reflected upon and the future is embraced with optimism. To all those celebrating, Har Ruz etan Nowrouz, Nowruz etan Pyrouz. Happy Nowruz. 🌸 #Nowruz #spring

Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating in my riding of Scarborough-Woburn and across Canada. As Ramadan comes to a close, Eid al-Fitr is a time to reflect on the values of compassion, generosity, and community that define this sacred month. It is also an opportunity to come together with family and loved ones, and to support those in need. Wishing you peace, joy, and continued blessings on this special day. 🌙 #Eid #Ramadan #Scarborough

Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting with representatives from Centennial College and Humber Polytechnic , as well as Colleges Ontario. Colleges are the backbone of Canada’s workforce, they are hubs that teach young Canadians the many crucial skills and trades needed in our economy. As our government works hard to build #CanadaStrong colleges are poised to play a key role, developing the workforce of today and tomorrow. 🇨🇦

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of hosting Minister Hidaeki Ishii and a delegation from the Japanese Embassy. Japan and Canada share a long and valued partnership, and Japan plays a key role in our government's efforts to strengthen international relationships and diversify Canadian trade. As Prime Minister Mark Carney's recent visit to Japan highlighted, the relationship between our two countries is strong and continues to strengthen. 🇨🇦🤝🇯🇵

On March 8th, we celebrate International Women’s Day and highlight the leadership, accomplishments, and resilience of women and girls across Canada and all around the world.    Our government will always stand with women, champion their success, and amplify their voices. Women’s leadership and contributions are shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future across Canada.   Together, we reaffirm our commitment to building a country where every woman and girl can lead, thrive, and realize her full potential.

Great news! The Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, the Honourable Heath MacDonald, has announced the launch of the 2026-27 Youth Employment and Skills Program (YESP), with application intake to start today, March 5, 2026.   Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is one of several departments participating in the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy. AAFC’s YESP funds job opportunities to empower young Canadians to develop work-ready skills through hands-on experience and training, putting youth on a path to meaningful, well-paying careers.   The fund provides non-repayable contributions to employers who hire youth aged 15 to 30 and provide meaningful work experience in the agriculture and agri-food sector. The YESP covers 50% of wages and benefits paid to a youth (or 80% for Indigenous employers and/or employers who hire a youth facing barriers to employment), up to $14,000, with up to an additional $5,000 available to support relocation or barrier-related costs.   Applications will be accepted until May 4, 2026 (at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time).
